In questo volume è presentata una ricerca sulla partecipazione (interazioni faccia a faccia o attraverso i vari strumenti della partecipazione on line) cui hanno collaborato ricercatori di tre Atenei italiani: Università di Padova, Università di Milano e IUAV di Venezia. I vari ricercatori impegnati in questa ricerca hanno esplorato tutti gli aspetti del web 2.0 inteso come quella forma di comunicazione in cui tutti comunicano con tutti ponendosi allo stesso livello e quella forma di interazione dei governati con i governanti oltre che di questi ultimi tra loro. Una interazione che viene rafforzata dalla consapevolezza di essere numerosi a pensare o reagire allo stesso modo. L’idea base di questo volume è che l’e-democracy è uno strumento importante e in condizione, se ben utilizzato dalle nostre istituzioni (ma questo ancora non avviene in Italia), di rafforzare la nostra democrazia. I tempi coperti dalle ricerche condotte dai vari autori sono gli ultimi decenni. Vengono descritte varie esperienze nazionali e internazionali. Una particolare attenzione è dedicata all’uso dell’e-democracy nelle elezioni amministrative, fino alle ultime tenutesi nella primavera del 2014. Giuseppe Gangemi, docente di Scienza dell’Amministrazione all’Università di Padova e Presidente del corso di laurea magistrale in Scienze del Governo e Politiche Pubbliche è il curatore del volume per il quale ha scritto una Presentazione e l’ultimo saggio. Giovanni Tonella e Luca De Pietro sono docenti che insegnano nel corso di laurea in Scienze del Governo e Politiche Pubbliche. Fiorella De Cindio è docente dell’Università degli Studi di Milano dove afferisce al Dipartimento di Informatica. Giulia Bertone ed Ewa Krzatala-Jaworska sono delle collaboratrici di Fiorella De Cindio. Francesca Gelli insegna allo IUAV di Venezia dove è anche coordinatore del Dottorato in Pianificazione Territoriale e Politiche Pubbliche del Territorio e responsabile scientifico del corso di perfezionamento post lauream in Azione Locale Partecipata e Sviluppo Urbano Sostenibile. Damiano Fanni è un dottore di ricerca e Miriam Tedeschi è un dottorando del Dottorato in Pianificazione Territoriale e Politiche Pubbliche del Territorio. Alberto Cammozzio è un tecnico informatico che si interessa di e-participation. Rula Bevilacqua è dottore magistrale in Relazioni Internazionali e Diritti Umani e si è trovata, dopo la laurea, ad interessarsi di carceri.
