A ponerologia mostra que a finitude, constitutivamente carencial e contraditória, torna inevitável o surgimento do mal. A pisteodiceia parte desse resultado e indica que toda visão do mal é uma resposta, uma "fé" que deve ser justificada: seja a náusea sartriana ou a esperança religiosa. A teodiceia é então a "pisteodiceia" cristã, que agora pode romper o dilema, alcançar coerência e apresentar Deus como o Antimal.
