English is a global language spoken worldwide by nearly 400 million native speakers and 750 million people of different ethnicities as a second language, making it the largest spoken language in the world. While there are multiple dialects and accents including North American, British English, Australian, African and Asian to name a few, it can often be interpreted by people using a different dialect and accent which makes communicating in English, one of the most essential skills to have. Being able to read, write, speak and understand English is necessary for business, travel, education, career and for maintaining international relations. The most successful people in the world have mastered their communication skills in English. It helps them have a better life not only professionally but also personally. These people can express themselves better and maintain good relations with their family and friends. Every language comprises of two parts – grammar and vocabulary. While grammar can be learnt at schools, colleges, universities, private institutions or using English grammar books, learning vocabulary and being able to remember it and utilize it in everyday communication has always been a challenge. Dictionaries have been the oldest and most basic source of learning English vocabulary. They provide word meanings and sentences. Thesaurus provides synonyms of words. Other English books provide antonyms, idioms and phrases. But all these serve more as a reference than a learning source since memorizing a plethora of words from these sources is almost impractical. And yet most books for competitive exams in the market today list thousands of words and meanings and expect people to memorize them. Institutes and Universities encourage people to read novels or fiction books voraciously in the hope that people will be able to improve their vocabulary. What they fail to understand is readers must read hundreds of books to learn hundreds of words. There is never a certainty that the books they read will have a disjoint set of words. Even if they do, it will only take several years before a reader will be able to master hundreds of words. In order to resolve the above conundrum and make it convenient for readers to learn thousands of words with just one book and in a span of only two to three months, an attempt has been made in the form of The English Bunny. The English Bunny is a collection of short stories and prides itself on covering close to 2500 words and their meanings in just about 150 pages with 1 story per page and each story not exceeding 20 lines. Like never before, The English Bunny is here to revolutionize the way you learn and improve your English Vocabulary. If you are a student preparing for any competitive exam like GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, IELTS, MCAT, SAT or ACT, you are hard pressed on time and would want to master a lot of words in a short span of time. The English Bunny will help you memorize these words in a sure shot fun way with very little effort. If you are a business professional, looking to enhance your communication skills by improving your vocabulary, The English Bunny will help you in your pursuit. If your first language is not English and you have difficulty in understanding complex English or if you are interested in improving your confidence, The English Bunny will help you in your pursuit. It is your fastest English vocabulary learning pal.

A Washington Post Notable Book: A Japanese Canadian man is haunted by childhood memories of WWII internment camps in this “evocative and cinematic tale” (Maclean’s). In 1942, in retaliation for the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Canadian government removes young Bin Okuma and his family from their home at a British Columbia coastal fishing village and forces them into internment camps. Allowed to take only the possessions they can carry, Bin watches looters raid his home before the transport boats even undock. One hundred miles from the “Protected Zone,” abandoned by his father, Bin spends the next five years struggling to adapt in the makeshift shacks of the brutal mountain community. For Bin, it was never forgotten, nor forgiven. Fifty years later, after his wife’s death, Bin embarks on a road trip across Canada. Accompanied by his dog, his classical music tapes, and his memories, he intends to find his biological father whose fateful decision destroyed his family all those years ago. But Bin must ask himself: does he really want to confront the ghosts of the past, or is it time to finally let them go? A novel of grief, coming-of-age, and coming to terms with our own personal histories, “Requiem is a great work of literature from a determined author at the peak of her powers” (Ottawa Citizen).

Rome City In Terror written by Victor Failmezger and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-09-17 with History categories.

This is the compelling story of an Eternal City brought low, of the terror and hardship of occupation, and of the disparate army of partisan fighters, displaced aristocrats, Vatican priests, Allied POWs and ordinary citizens who battled for the liberation of Rome. In September 1943, following wave upon wave of Allied bombing, Italy announced an armistice with the Allies. Shortly afterwards, the German army disarmed Italian forces and, despite military and partisan resistance, quickly overran Rome. Rome – City in Terror is a comprehensive history of the nine-month-long German occupation of the city that followed. The Gestapo wasted no time enforcing an iron grip on the city once the occupation was in place. They swiftly eliminated the Carabinieri, the Italian paramilitary force, rounded up thousands of Italians to build extensive defensive lines across Italy, and, at 5am one morning, arrested more than 1,000 Roman Jews and sent them to Auschwitz. Resistance, however, remained strong. To aid the thousands of Allied POWs who escaped after the dissolution of the Italian army, priests, diplomats and escaped ex-POWs operating out of the Vatican formed a nationwide organization called the 'Escape Line'. More than 4,000 Allied POWs scattered all over Italy were sheltered, clothed and fed by these courageous Italians, whose lives were forfeit if their activities were discovered. Meanwhile, as food became scarce and the Gestapo began to raid on homes and institutions, Italian partisan fighters launched attack after attack on German military units in the city, with the threat of execution never far away.
