Research Methods in Radiology provides concise, practical insights on how to design clinical and experimental studies in diagnostic imaging. This unique resource encompasses contributions from leaders in academic radiology as well as top epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and librarians with vast multidisciplinary and radiology research experience. The material reflects years of expertise teaching core biostatistics in radiology principles to residents, fellows, radiologists, and epidemiologists. Given the vast amount of published information on research methodology and statistics in radiology, the authors' goal was to write a high-yield review and study tool rather than a comprehensive book. Key topics are succinctly addressed in each chapter, including measurements in radiology; decision analysis in radiology; and systemic reviews, evidence-based imaging, and knowledge translation. Online exercises related to each topic enable residents to prepare for radiology board examinations and research radiologists to apply knowledge to clinical studies. Key Highlights Introductory chapters on analysis of diagnostic tests, linear and logistic regression, meta-analysis, statistical inference, and economic evaluation provide easy-to-follow tutorials Each chapter includes learning objectives, basic concepts, supplementary tables, and ancillary online material Case studies with images, graphs, and tables highlight primary "take home" points Sample size calculations are illustrated for a wide range of research questions Code is included for use in R, free open-source software for statistical analysis This book is an indispensable review of research methodology for radiology students and residents. Practicing clinicians will also benefit from this precisely focused reference tool on clinical and experimental research.

The aim of this book is to present statistical problems and methods in a friendly way to radiologists, emphasizing statistical issues and methods most frequently used in radiological studies (e.g., nonparametric tests, analysis of intra- and interobserver reproducibility, comparison of sensitivity and specificity among different imaging modality, difference between clinical and screening application of diagnostic tests, ect.). The tests will be presented starting from a radiological "problem" and all examples of statistical methods applications will be "radiological".

This book provides an holistic picture of the application of research in radiography and focuses on multivariant methodological approaches and practices. It will provide readers insight into both contemporary and innovative methods within radiography research, backed up with evidence-based literature. This book may also be translated into other health disciplines as it introduces research to the reader by detailing terms that can often be confusing for students. These remain central in understanding the importance of research in radiography and how the generation of new knowledge is obtained. This will be supported with subsequent chapters concerning the literature, formation of research questions and detail the early beginnings of a research proposal. Chapters will include a wide range of topics, such as quantitative and qualitative methodologies and data collection tools pertinent to radiographic research, whilst discussing data analysis and need for rigor. The authors draw from our experiences, published outputs and clinical work, supported with alternate philosophies and methods used in diagnostic radiography. Each chapter will examine the multifaceted use and application of each ‘sub-theme’ pertinent to research in radiography, which is presented in a single text for students and, perhaps, practitioners. The targeted audience for this book is interdisciplinary but clearly focuses on those studying undergraduate radiography in response to the limited texts available. We also anticipate it to provide a useful tool for academics delivering undergraduate radiography programmes and those supporting postgraduate research. The key features will: • explore important research approaches and concepts within diagnostic radiography • provide contemporary evidence-based practice regarding mixed method approaches • provide a ‘how to guide’ for understanding key research principles in a wide range of radiographic settings • evaluate the impact of research on patients and the radiographer–patient relationship Dr. Christopher Hayre is a Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at Charles Sturt University in New South Wales, Australia. Dr. Xiaoming Zheng has been teaching medical radiation science courses at Charles Sturt University since 1998.

Industrial Radiology written by R. Halmshaw and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Industrial radiography is a well-established non-destructive testing (NDT) method in which the basic principles were established many years ago. However, during 1993-95 the European Standards Organisa tion (CEN) commenced drafting many new standards on NDT including radiographic methods, and when completed these will replace national standards in all the EC member countries. In some cases these standards vary significantly from those in use in the UK at present. These CEN standards are accepted by majority, not unanimous voting, so they will become mandatory even in countries which vote against them. As most are likely to be legal by the time this second edition is published, they are described in the appropriate places in the text. The most important new technical development is the greater use of computers in radiology. In the first edition, computerized tomography was only briefly mentioned at the end of Chapter 11, as it was then largely a medical method with only a few equipments having found a place in industrial use. The method depends on a complex computer program and a large data store. Industrial equipments are now being built, although their spread into industry has been slow. Computer data storage is also being used for radiographic data. Small computers can now store all the data produced by scanning a radiographic film with a small light-spot, and various programs can be applied to these data.

Comprehensive Textbook of Clinical Radiology is a fully integrated illustrated textbook of radiology to cater for residents and practising radiologists. It is a one-stop solution for all academic needs in radiology. It helps radiologists as a single reference book to gain complete knowledge instead of referring to multiple resources. More than 500 authors, recognized experts in their subspeciality, have contributed to this book. To meet the expectations of clinical radiologists, thorough clinical expertise and familiarity with all the imaging modalities appropriate to address their clinical questions are necessary, regardless of one's favoured subspeciality. To keep the content relevant to them, we have tried to stay upgraded to their level. This book comprises six volumes, which gives information on Radiological Anatomy, Embryology, Nomogram, Normal Variants, Physics, Imaging Techniques, and all the aspects of Diagnostic Radiology including Neuroradiology, Head and Neck, Chest and CVS, Abdomen, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Breast, Musculoskeletal and Multisystem Disorders & related Interventional techniques. It will serve as a primary reference for residents and subspeciality trainees and fellows to facilitate their learning in preparation for their examination, and also the consultant radiologists in their daily clinical practice. This volume is subdivided into three sections. Section 1 covers the principles of clinical radiology and deals with basic to advanced aspects of general radiology. The physics of each imaging modality is described in detail for radiology residents. Principles of pathology, genetics and statistics important for radiologists from research point of view are enumerated. Basic principles of medicine including management of contrast reactions, basic and advanced life support which are important for radiologists in day to day practice are dealt in dedicated chapter. Section 2 covers the multisystem disorders that affect multiple body systems either at the same time or over a period of time. Imaging plays a vital role in identifying the extent of systems involved and also in diagnosis by recognising the pattern of systems involved. The last part of the section deals with the general principles of oncoimaging dealing with multisystem involvement and facilitates easier understanding of this complex subject. The format is ideal for both in-depth knowledge and daily reference. Section 3 covers head and neck imaging, anatomy of neck, techniques of imaging and paediatric neck. In addition, all neck spaces and lymph nodes are discussed with anatomy and pathology with high-quality images and line diagrams. Orbits, temporal bone, sinuses and skull base are included with discussion on imaging anatomy, variants and pathologies. Cancer imaging, PETCT and post-operative imaging are fully discussed along with TNM imaging. Unique chapters on Sleep apnea, Emergency Radiology, Dental imaging, Superficial and trans-spatial lesions and Imaging of all cranial nerves are included.
