Hierzu werden mögliche Handlungsstrategien erläutert und Hinweise sowie Orientierung für den angemessenen Umgang mit der Thematik vorgestellt. Die Gesamtzahl traumatisierter Kinder ist erschreckend. Die polizeiliche Kriminalstatistik verzeichnete für das Jahr 2018 allein in Deutschland 3.487 Fälle dokumentierter Kindesmisshandlung (§225 StGB), dies entspricht durchschnittlich zehn Fällen pro Tag, dies allein an offiziell gemeldeten Fällen. Hiervon war circa die Hälfte der Kinder unter sechs Jahre alt. Es muss speziell in dieser Altersgruppe jedoch zudem von einer extrem hohen Dunkelziffer nicht angezeigter Straftaten ausgegangen werden, da viele Opfer noch so klein sind, dass sie nicht auf sich aufmerksam machen können oder es im späteren Alter aus Scham oder Angst nicht tun. Die Auswirkungen dieser Misshandlungen sind oft dramatisch. Traumatischen Erfahrungen im sehr jungen Lebensalter erfolgen in einem sehr verletzbaren Entwicklungsstadium und beeinflussen die normativen Entwicklungsprozesse der Opfer derart, dass korrigierende Beziehungserfahrungen in Peers und Erwachsenenbeziehungen unwahrscheinlicher werden. Zudem gibt es nachweislich eine signifikant höhere Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass die als Kinder traumatisierten Opfer im Erwachsenenalter selbst zu Tätern werden und dann ihre eigenen Kinder misshandeln. Es ist eine gesellschaftliche Aufgabe und Verantwortlichkeit, diesen Teufelskreis zu durchbrechen. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird deutlich, dass eine fachmännische pädagogische und psychologische Versorgung traumatisierter Kinder dringend angezeigt ist. Eine aktuell leider noch nicht adäquate Umsetzung liegt weniger in der Gesetzeslage begründet, die als ausreichend eingestuft werden kann, sondern scheitert zumeist eher an der praktischen Umsetzung. Zentrale Probleme sind Unklarheiten über Zuständigkeiten der Leistungserbringer, der fehlende Eingang von aktuellem Fachwissen in die Praxis und die nicht stattfindende flächendeckende Implementierung evidenzbasierter Hilfemaßnahmen.

Die Ausarbeitung soll einen Überblick über den Themenbereich „Trauma und Resilienz “ verschaffen. Die Konfrontation mit höchst bedrohlichen, unkontrollierbaren Ereignissen ist vielen Kindern bereits schon bekannt. Immer häufiger setzen wir uns damit auseinander, dass auch Kinder, die hier zwischen uns leben, Opfer von Kriegsverbrechen geworden sind oder als Zeugen miterleben mussten, wie Eltern, Geschwister oder Großeltern gefoltert bzw. getötet wurden. Aber auch Gewalterfahrungen, sexueller Missbrauch, Vernachlässigungen, Unfälle, elterliche Drogen- oder Alkoholabhängigkeit oder andere familiäre Probleme können Kinder als Trauma erleben. Solche traumatischen Erfahrungen stellen ein potentielles Risiko für die weitere Entwicklung der betroffenen Kinder dar. Fast täglich ist in den Nachrichten von Katastrophen, Kriegen, Unfällen, Gewaltverbrechen oder Wirtschaftskrisen zu hören. Es wird auch von hohen Arbeitslosenquoten, einem wachsenden Armutsproblem in der Gesellschaft, Umweltbelastungen und steigenden Scheidungsraten u.v.m. berichtet. Die Erwartung dieser Risikoperspektiven ist zunächst mit negativen Konsequenzen für die kindliche Entwicklung verknüpft. Trotz dieser Risiken wachsen viele Kinder zu erstaunlich kompetenten, stabilen und leistungsfähigen Persönlichkeiten heran. Dieses Phänomen hat das Interesse vieler Forscher aus verschiedenen Fachdisziplinen geweckt und wird heute mit dem Begriff „Resilienz“ umschrieben. Resilienz ist die Fähigkeit eines Individuums „erfolgreich mit belastenden Lebensumständen und negativen Stressfolgen umgehen zu können“. Es ist zudem von wichtiger Bedeutung, inwieweit es einem Kind gelingt, adäquate Strategien zur Bewältigung der traumatischen Erlebnisse zu erlernen. Aber aus unterschiedlichen Gründen erhalten leider nicht alle Kinder die Förderung, die ihrer Persönlichkeit angemessen wäre. Ob und wie gut es den Kindern gelingt, derartige Entwicklungsrisiken erfolgreich zu bewältigen, hängt von unterschiedlichen Schutzfaktoren im Kind und in dessen Umwelt ab. Folgende Fragen stehen dabei im Vordergrund: Was macht die Kinder derart stark? Über welche Potenziale verfügen sie, dass sie Belastungen und Risikolagen so erfolgreich bewältigen können? Welche schützenden Bedingungen in der Lebensumwelt der Kinder tragen zu einer solchen positiven Entwicklung bei?
