Wall Street Journal columnist and New York Times bestselling author Kim Strassel argues that the all-out "Resistance" has become dangerously reckless in its obstruction of President Trump. Among the most consistent and aggressive criticisms of Donald Trump is that he is a threat to American democracy -- a human wrecking ball demolishing our most basic values and institutions. Resistance (At All Costs) makes the opposite case -- that it is Trump's critics, in their zeal to oppose the president, who are undermining our foundations. From the FBI's unprecedented counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign, to bureaucratic sabotage, to media partisanship, to the drive-by character assassination of Trump nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the president's foes have thrown aside norms, due process and the rule of law. Resistance (At All Costs) shows that the reaction to Trump will prove far more consequential and damaging to our nation long-term than Trump's time in office. Instant New York Times bestseller.

Merriam-Webster defines woke as being "aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues [especially issues of racial and social justice]." The Urban Dictionary defines woke as "the act of being very pretentious, attempting to impress by affecting greater importance or merit than is actually possessed, about how much you care about a social issue." Contemporary wisdom would suggest that woke is best defined as extreme progressivism. W. Durant--author, historian, philosopher, Pulitzer Prize winner in 1968, and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977--concluded that "a great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." The Biden administration's progressive agenda has weakened America in every aspect. Woke progressive policies have cost America with open borders, the highest inflation rate in forty years, empty store shelves, unmanageable energy costs, education curricula viewed through the prism of racism, international humiliation, high crime and lawlessness, cancel culture, sanctuary cities, and an exploding national debt. Extremely progressive woke policies are by their nature, divisive, and ultimately do more harm than good to our nation. While most woke initiatives seem noble, few are successful; while most woke ideologies seem altruistic, few are pragmatic. We should aspire to more diversity of thought and less diversity of color. Americans must choose between reason and emotion in future elections. We must choose between being woke or being awake. Once civilization begins to decay, it can accelerate rapidly down a steep decline into passivity, indolence, ignorance, and violence. America is now teetering on the brink of that kind of decaying culture. That is why this debate over work vs. welfare, knowledge vs. ignorance, and independence vs. dependence is so vital. The Costs And Cost Effectiveness Of Tuberculosis Control written by Anna Vassall and has been published by Amsterdam University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-01 with Medical categories.

Tuberculosis is a leading cause of ill-health and death in low and middle income countries. Tuberculosis control is essential for achieving the Millennium Development Goals relating to health by 2015. However, despite efforts made to expand tuberculosis control over the past decades, tuberculosis remains a serious global health problem. This book aims to assist the expansion of tuberculosis control by adding to the evidence on the cost-effectiveness of different tuberculosis control strategies. It presents research from five countries: Egypt, Ethiopia, Syria, Peru and Ukraine. It examines the implementation of the World Health Organization recommended strategy, Directly Observed Treatment Strategy (dots). New technologies currently being developed to tackle drug resistance are also assessed. Emphasis throughout is placed on the importance of health systems and the costs for patients accessing treatment. This book is essential reading for anyone interested in economic aspects of tuberculosis control.

Decisions twenty years ago during the fIrst generation of modern traffIc safety policymaking were easier than today. Afterall, the mandate for specifIc mandatory motor vehicle safety standards was dermed rather clearly during legislative hearings. Since the initial standards, decisions have been based on the more general guidelines of "practicality" and avoiding "unreasonable risks. " Now, with more diffIcult decisions pending, the demand for analysis is greater. My purpose in writing this book is to promote second generation policymaking in traffic safety. The dominant theme is that an "individual net benefIt approach" is useful in the design, evaluation and improvement of traffic safety policy. Hopefully, this book provides some guidance for today's tougher decisions. Evaluative review of modern traffic safety policy, especially automobile safety standards, yields several results. The technological approach, the basis for the 1966 legislation, is shown to produce mistakes. Benefits are overestimated and endangerment of nonoccupants is ignored. The risk homeostatic approach, the devil's idea to some in the safety community, is shown to be a limiting case of the more general individual net benefIt approach. Rationality and competency in travelers' safety decisions are reviewed in a broad context. Evidence beyond the realm of behavioral ix x The Regulation of Motor Vehicle and Traffic Safety psychology indicates considerable, albeit imperfect, competency in traffic safety decisions. Conventional benefit-cost analysis is critiqued. Existing studies of passive restraints are shown to overestimate net benefits because travelers' responses and costs are ignored.
