The book discusses all the calendar issues and key constituents of Indian calendar before providing the concrete guidelines for resolving the calendar anomalies. Apart from addressing questions like ‘Can we use the tropical rashi ingress for Chaitra etc. months?’, sufficiently backed with academic and logical support, the book provides the Author's take on key festivals and rituals in the final chapter. In addition, two exclusive chapters on the relevant inputs from the author’s other two works ‘The Unanswered’ and ‘Taming the Untamed’ are included in the book to help readers find everything needed at one place.

A must-read for astrologers and intriguing for astronomers who wish to explore the ancient stuff, the book has the author’s complete research work on the subject. The new edition three is divided in two parts. The first, ‘Preliminary’ part, has all the relevant six chapters of the author’s research on the 27 degrees ayanamsha mentioned in the Surya Siddhanta that earlier used to be in the old editions of ‘The Unanswered part I’. The second, ‘Mains’ part, resolves all the ambiguities associated with the ayanamsha puzzle and provides concrete solutions. Readers will learn about the basic revolution, the concept of nirayana in detail and how the figure of 4320K years yuga is valid apart from other related discussions. Being first in the world, it reveals certain important findings such as "how controversial oscillating ayana of 27 degree as mentioned in Surya Siddhantha is valid even when compared to modern astronomy?" and why it is called ayanamsa and not vishuwamsa? Additionally, it resolves the issue of Surya Siddhantha's longer year length and explains how it is calculated.

Anyone associated with astrology at any level, both beginners and experts, can go for ‘The Unanswered’ to get the solutions to the controversial issues in the Indian astrology such as ayanamsa, vimshottary year length, bhava chart, true or mean, geocentric or topocentric etc. The main aim of the book is to explore the truth. Divided in two parts, the Part I in the new edition is devoted to ayanamsha. It discusses about various ayanamshas, whether we need to go for Surya Siddhanta ganita for astrology purposes and a brief on the author’s research work in the final chapter ‘Hitting the right ayanamsha’ so as to provide solution to the ayanamsha puzzle, once and for all. Part II is focused on resolving various other issues related to the Indian astrology circle such as vimshottary year length, bhava (house) system, sunrise time, true or mean nodes, true or apparent positions, choice of circle and geocentric or topocentric etc. All the topics in the book are well-researched so as to present the details with enough academic as well as logical support.

This survey examines the vibrant academic literature on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing. While there is no consensus on the exact list of ESG issues, responsible investors increasingly assess stocks in their portfolios based on nonfinancial data on environmental impact (e.g., carbon emissions), social impact (e.g., employee satisfaction), and governance attributes (e.g., board structure). The objective is to reduce exposure to investments that pose greater ESG risks or to influence companies to become more sustainable. One active area of research at present involves assessing portfolio risk exposure to climate change. This literature review focuses on institutional investors, which have grown in importance such that they have now become the largest holders of shares in public companies globally. Historically, institutional investors tended to concentrate their ESG efforts mostly on corporate governance (the “G” in ESG). These efforts included seeking to eliminate provisions that restrict shareholder rights and enhance managerial power, such as staggered boards, supermajority rules, golden parachutes, and poison pills. Highlights from this section: · There is no consensus on the exact list of ESG issues and their materiality. · The ESG issue that gets the most attention from institutional investors is climate change, in particular their portfolio companies’ exposure to carbon risk and “stranded assets.” · Investors should be positioning themselves for increased regulation, with the regulatory agenda being more ambitious in the European Union than in the United States. Readers might come away from this survey skeptical about the potential for ESG investing to affect positive change. I prefer to characterize the current state of the literature as having a “healthy dose of skepticism,” with much more remaining to be explored. Here, I hope the reader comes away with a call to action. For the industry practitioner, I believe that the investment industry should strive to achieve positive societal goals. CFA Institute provides an exemplary case in its Future of Finance series (www.cfainstitute.org/research/future-finance). For the academic community, I suggest we ramp up research aimed at tackling some of the open questions around the pressing societal goals of ESG investing. I am optimistic that practitioners and academics will identify meaningful ways to better harness the power of global financial markets for addressing the pressing ESG issues facing our society.

We are entities capable of creativity, beauty, choice, courage, and intelligence, as well as entities capable of almost unimaginable capacity for self- destruction, both individually and collectively. Which side of our nature will define us turns on the edge of the axis. Like a coin spinning in the air, not knowing whether it will land on heads or tails, in our search for ourselves in time, we are mystical travelers whose destiny may turn on the edge of a dime. The challenge and choices we face in this task as co-creators of the world around us is to learn to read and interpret the signs of change, just as the reflections of stars in the evening sky are signs of energy that echoes the very origins of the cosmos itself, and even as the strata of our earth entomb a fossil record recording the history of life on earth—all of our world becomes a text—teaching us the grammar of energy, space and matter which led to the birth of a universe. Critical Axis explains this text written in the phenomenon of the Cosmos as we move toward its revelation, and as such, Critical Axis is a guidebook to the text of our lives.
