En contraste con las visiones que han restringido el tema de la ciudadanía a discusiones curriculares o a análisis normativos de lo que la juventud “debiese ser”, el libro se desarrolla desde una definición amplia de la(s) ciudadanía(s) y la(s) juventud(es), considerando como un eje central de trabajo la pluralidad de miradas, enfoques conceptuales, sujetos de investigación y metodologías.
