Em tempos passados não pensamos negar a presença diária dos mortos nas nossas vidas. Aqueles que amamos foram enterrados ali perto, no cemitério da aldeia, ou mesmo nos nossos próprios quintais. Teríamos passado por seus túmulos com frequência, cuidado de seus lápides e parado para conversar ocasionalmente. Naquela época, os corpos dos nossos antepassados estavam próximos. Em tempos ainda mais antigos, os crânios dos nossos antepassados teriam sido construídos nas próprias fundações das nossas habitações. Sabíamos que aqueles que vieram antes de nós literalmente apoiaram e testemunharam a nossa existência. Muito antes disso, há coleções de milhares de anos, ainda sabíamos que, a cada passo que dávamos pela terra, nossos pés tocavam os corpos de todos aqueles que vieram antes de nós. Ainda sabíamos que o chão abaixo de nós nada mais era do que os corpos dos mortos – nossos protetores, nossos guias, nossos parentes e nossos amigos. Aqueles que passaram estão ao nosso redor – abaixo de nós e antes de nós. Existem muitas maneiras de lembrar e honrar sua presença entre nós. Mas não devemos descobrir tudo isso sozinhos. Os mortos são nossos aliados e nossos professores; Eles nos guiarão às práticas e devoções específicas que são adequadas para cada um de nós. Ao longo dos anos, interagindo com pessoas de diversas origens em meus workshops, fiquei repetidamente surpreso ao ver como os próprios mortos nos conduzem aos ensinamentos de que necessitamos. Acima de tudo, eles nos orientarão a confiar em nossa própria intuição, abrindo mundos de possibilidades e sabedoria que talvez não pensemos anteriormente serem possíveis. Este livro não é um manual de instruções; é um convite a cada leitor para se reconectar com seu próprio conhecimento interior e invocar a magia da terra dos mortos. É também a história da minha própria jornada no submundo e dos milagres de cura que aconteceram entre meu pai e eu muito depois de sua morte. Além de compartilhar essa história, também incluí as conversas íntimas que tive com ele depois que ele partiu e ofereci sugestões sobre como cada um de nós pode interagir com nossos próprios ancestrais.
