There is something in the water of the Arkansas River--again! Everyone believed they had caught the creature that was terrorizing the residents along the Arkansas River and the tributaries flowing into it. Or did they? Could there have been two separate monsters lurking in the waters or did they capture the wrong one? The creature that attacked the animals and humans that previous summer was unlike anything anyone had ever seen or heard of before. After the river monster returns, so does the fear and so do the questions. No one even knows what it is. There are speculations and theories, but since the victim never sees it until it is too late, no one knows for sure what the monster is or how it came to be in the waters in and around the Arkansas River. The first creature they found was a true monster. Could there be another one? Could it be an even bigger one? The answer will surprise you.

There's something very large and sinister lurking in the rivers and streams of southeastern Arkansas. After it terrorizes the citizens in and around Mount Carmel, experts are called in to find and contend with whatever it is. In the first book of the series, they find something almost unbelievable that has been killing animals and people in the nearby rivers and streams. "It ain't a gator, boys. It eats gators." In the second book, "Return of the Arkansas River Monster", there's another creature worse than the first, and more menacing! In the third book, "The Capture of the Arkansas River Monster", the reason is revealed as to why the monsters are prowling the river. This time, an expert is called in that knows what he's doing and sets a trap for whatever it is. Will the trap work, and what will they find when the creature comes to take the bait? The fourth book in the series is "The Last Arkansas River Monster." Once again, a mysterious creature makes its appearance along the Arkansas River. This time, it's much different than the previous ones. It's faster and comes out of nowhere, launching unexpected and deadly attacks on its helpless victims. How will the citizens cope with this latest aberration of nature? The reason I wrote the fourth book is because of the great reviews of the previous three books. Below is an excerpt of one of the reviews: The Arkansas River Monster Trilogy. "I see no reason why this should be the end. Write another one! Very talented author. This book has it all...Action, adventure, mystery, and some pretty scary happenings. Oh yeah, Zeb reminds me of my husband's old daddy. Full of conventional wisdom and other stuff. But really, give this one a go guys and gals. Teens as well as us grown-ups will find it a good read. Betcha hope for a fourth book before you finish the third book...Way before.... I know I did!!!!! Sorry. I had to write a spoiler free review. Didn't want to spoil the fun. Enjoy."

Return Of The Gar written by Mark Spitzer and has been published by University of North Texas Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-15 with Nature categories.

The alligator gar belongs to a family of fish that has remained fundamentally unchanged since the Cretaceous, over 100 million years ago. Its intimidating size and plethora of teeth have made it demonized throughout its range in North America, resulting in needless killing. Massive oil spills in its breeding range have not helped its population either. Interspersing science, folklore, history, and action-packed fishing narratives, Spitzer's empathy for and fascination with this air-breathing, armored fish provides for an entertaining odyssey that examines management efforts to preserve and propagate the alligator gar in the United States. Spitzer also travels to Central America, Thailand, and Mexico to assess the global gar situation. He reflects on what is and isn't working in compromised environments, then makes a case for conservation based on personal experience and a love for wildness for its own sake. This colorful portrait of the alligator gar can serve as a metaphor and measurement for the future of our biodiversity during a time of planetary crisis.

On every continent and in every nation, animals unrecognized by modern science are reported on a daily basis. People passionately pursue these creatures--the name given to their field of study is cryptozoology. Coined in the 1950s, the term literally means the science of hidden animals. When the International Society of Cryptozoology (ISC) was formed in 1982, the founders declared that the branch of science is also concerned with "the possible existence of known animals in areas where they are not supposed to occur (either now or in the past) as well as the unknown persistence of presumed extinct animals to the present time or to the recent past...what makes an animal of interest to cryptology is that it is unexpected." This reference work presents a "flesh and blood" view of cryptozoology. Here, 2,744 entries are listed, the majority of which each describe one specific creature or type of creature. Other entries cover 742 places where unnamed cryptids are said to appear; profiles of 77 groups and 112 individuals who have contributed to the field; descriptions of objects and events important to the subject; and essays on cryptotourism and hoaxes, for example. Appendices offer a timeline of zoological discoveries, annotated lists of movies and television series with cryptozoological themes, a list of crypto-fiction titles and a list of Internet websites devoted to cryptozoology.

In Search of Monster Fish is an action-packed, knee-slapping ride into and out of the belly of the beast. Join extreme angler Mark Spitzer as he encounters man-eating catfish, ruthless barracuda, lacerating conger eels, berserk tarpon, and blood-curdling sharks in locales as exotic as the Amazon, Catalonia, the Dominican Republic, Senegal, and even in our own backyards. But this eco-odyssey isn’t just about meeting and releasing some of the most grotesque lunkers in the world. It’s about implementing solutions for problems as behemoth as global warming and issues as common as choosing what to eat for dinner. And as the ice caps melt at the rate of 1 percent annually, Spitzer battles his most epic goliath: a leviathan that dwells in the depths of us all, making us ask who the real monsters are, what our responsibilities truly are, and what we can possibly do to sustain our planet and ourselves when faced with such demonic disenlightenment. Spitzer then beats this whopper into submission by reframing his call to action and finding his own way. A new portal to the underworld has been opened in the cutting-edge literature of monster fish, and this is your entry ticket.
