Return of the Believer: Studies in the Prayer of Jesus from the Gospel of John is a theological study of the Prayer of Jesus specifically, the Gospel of John in general, and relevant topics in the Synoptic Gospel. The Prayer of Jesus contains twenty-six verses with each verse prompting broader applications for the Christian faith. The main title Return of the Believer implies an original express of faith in Jesus Christ by John the writer of the Gospel. The study accepts an apologetic value to the Gospel of John as it argues the importance of true faith through the acceptance of John’s interpretation of Jesus Christ. The Prayer of Jesus is a summary of John’s views of Jesus. The return of the believer is a call for a renewal of faith in the New Testament, especially the Gospel of John. This study reveals the Apostle John as the true believer and model for the Christian faith, and the Prayer of Jesus provides a summary of John’s teachings and the expressed will of God for the Church. Each verse is explained in the context of its surrounding verses, and important topics are addressed. The special feature of the Prayer is its prompting of related issues that appear elsewhere in the New Testament and the teachings of the Church. For example, the Prayer, and the Gospel itself, does not mention the birth of Jesus but, instead, focuses on the pre-existence of the Son as the eternal Logos or God. This study requires an explanation of the difference. Discussions of each verse invite the reader to engage in contemporary related issues.

Is Christ coming back? Is Christian faith not in vain? What is the fate of many Christians for many generations? These are possible questions in the minds of many today. Over the time, believers have suffered extreme and harsh prosecution. Just as Christ had said while speaking with the disciples in John15: 18-20. The Apostles were prosecuted, victimized and even killed for preaching the gospel and the faith. Not only had the Apostles, also many believers of different ages suffered for Christ and the faith. Many were arrested, imprisoned, chained and killed. Many were attacked, oppressed and victimized. Many were made to go through pain, agony, torture, and torment. Many were hated, rejected and condemned for Christ sake. They were faced with two options "give up the faith and be free, or give up the life ." Many gave up their lives instead of the faith. They never looked back. They never gave up. They never surrendered the faith. They stood with Christ against all odds even at the threat of their lives. The question is "will these suffering of believers be in vain and futile ." The book practically examines and give concrete evidence about "why Christian suffering will not be in vain ." The book depths into the biblical assurance of the return of Christ, and why, how, when and what Christ will reward believers who have suffered for His cause and have won the victory. The book further insights into the endless joy and glory that await every believer when Christ comes, and in His kingdom. This book is a practical and helpful book for every Christian, old or young, male or female, who wants to meet with the Lord at His coming. The book is written with the aim to ignite and rejuvenate the hope of the faith in every believer, especially as many are faced with prosecution across the world in this end time, and thus prompt them to a finishing and glorious end.

31-Day Devotional from Bestselling Author and Bible Teacher John MacArthur In the busyness and trials of life, it's easy to drift away from the Savior. We may continue to go to church and even read the Scriptures and pray, but we can still lose our first love. Christ commended the church in Ephesus for their works and for their intolerance of false doctrine yet admonished them to remember and return to their first love--him. In the same way, our outward religiosity can mask an inner lack of love for our Savior. In this 31-day devotional, John MacArthur takes readers down a biblically prescribed path as they rediscover who Christ is, what he has done, and how they must respond. Each entry will move readers from understanding to application to reflection and prayer, with a goal of rekindling their first love for Christ. Makes a thoughtful gift for any believer.

Empowering the Church In his second epistle to the Corinthian Church, the apostle Paul empowered the church by affirming that God's strength and power is revealed and works in our weakness. The apostle empowered the church with God's strength after having confronted the immorality, doctrinal confusion and frequent disputes that had become commonplace among the Corinthian believers. Paul's message to this church was simple yet powerful: Consider the values of Christ's redemption and realign your thinking with God's instructions. Although this letter was written to admonish, instruct and encourage the early church, they are just as relevant to us today. This verse-by-verse devotional study, complete with engaging commentary and practical life applications, will challenge you to pursue a closer walk with Jesus Christ and grow in the faith.
