Return to Flat Run is a novel based upon the true story of my grandfather, Anderson Boggs a circuit riding preacher and my grandmother, Mistie Howard Boggs. After planting and pastoring churches for nine years in the mountains of Virginia, Kentucky, and West Virginia, Anderson a twenty-eight year old preacher saw Mistie Howard a sixteen year old girl for the first time. Immediately he knew she was the one the LORD had chosen to be his wife. A few years earlier, Mistie had memorized a passage of Scripture from the Book of Ruth. "Whither thou goest, I will go; and whither thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried" (1:16-17). Mistie didn't know when she memorized that passage of Scripture it would be the outline of her life.

It started with a dark vision. When Brulok disappeared, releasing the evil grip he had on Omordion, the five members of Omordion’s Hope had gone their separate ways to fulfill their destinies, and the people of Omordion had finally found peace. Horrifying visions of what was to come shattered their peace like glass. Brulok wasn’t finished. In a darkly woven tale of tragedy and uncertainty, the disbanded group must reunite in an effort to stop Brulok’s devious plan to finish what he started in a battle so deadly, their very lives could be left hanging on the brink of death and destruction. Will they be able to stop Brulok before it’s too late? In the final installment of The Omordion Trilogy, author Nande Orcel reveals the devastating secret behind who Brulok is, and the lies that were told to cover up a cursed past.

The Science of Running is written for those of us looking to maximize our performance, get as close to our limits as possible, and more than anything find out how good we can be, or how good our athletes can be. In The Science of Running, elite coach and exercise physiologist Steve Magness integrates the latest research with the training processes of the world's best runners, to deliver an in depth look at how to maximize your performance. It is a unique book that conquers both the scientific and practical points of running in two different sections. The first is aimed at identifying what limits running performance from a scientific standpoint. You will take a tour through the inside of the body, learning what causes fatigue, how we produce energy to run, and how the brain functions to hold you back from super-human performance. In section two, we turn to the practical application of this information and focus on the process of training to achieve your goals. You will learn how to develop training plans and to look at training in a completely different way. The Science of Running does not hold back information and is sure to challenge you to become a better athlete, coach, or exercise scientist in covering such topics as:· What is fatigue? The latest research on looking at fatigue from a brain centered view.· Why VO2max is the most overrated and misunderstood concept in both the lab and on the track· Why "zone" training leads to suboptimal performance.· How to properly individualize training for your own unique physiology.· How to look at the training process in a unique way in terms of stimulus and adaptation.· Full sample training programs from 800m to the marathon.

Run Strong Stay Hungry written by Jonathan Beverly and has been published by VeloPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11-21 with Sports & Recreation categories.

In Run Strong, Stay Hungry, running journalist Jonathan Beverly reveals the secrets of veteran racers who are still racing fast and loving the sport decades after they got their start. Beverly collects the habits and mindsets of more than 50 runners including Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Deena Kastor, Benji Durden, Colleen De Reuck, Dave Dunham, Kathrine Switzer, and Roger Robinson. Run Strong, Stay Hungry shares 9 keys from these veteran racers that let them keep running strong and staying hungry for competition. Are they biomechanically gifted? Stubborn? Simply lucky to have avoided injury? Turns out, there’s a lot more to it. In his comprehensive research, Beverly discovers that these runners all share specific perspectives and habits that allow them to adapt to changing life circumstances, accept declining abilities, and rebound from setbacks. These keys not only keep them on their feet, but also allow them to continue to draw the same enjoyment from the sport whether they are winning championships or finishing in the middle of the pack, cranking out 100-mile weeks and doing blazing speed work on the track, or squeezing in just enough miles into a busy schedule to simply feel fit and fast and occasionally test that fitness in a race. Beverly interviews over 50 runners including Bill Rodgers, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Deena Kastor, Benji Durden, Colleen De Reuck, Dave Dunham, Kathrine Switzer, and Roger Robinson. From training methods to mental attitudes to finding community among their fellow runners, there are specific keys that help these masters runners to adapt, accept, and rebound from the hurdles that life and aging put in their path. By adopting the practices of these lifetime competitors, you too can enjoy a lifelong, healthy running career as well as boost your enjoyment of running and your racing performance.
