“You can’t help but be excited about what the future will look like, if all businesses embrace Patrice’s passion for reverse mentorship; her passion for a world in which all businesses are 100 percent diverse, inclusive, and equitable shines through on every page.” --From the Foreword by Holly Branson, Chief Purpose and Vision Officer of Virgin Group Most organizations today strive for goals such as employee diversity, inclusive leadership, and younger and fresher ideas. But how do we get there? In her trailblazing Reverse Mentorship program, world-renowned executive coach and personal development advocate Patrice Gordon creates a safe and engaging culture by having senior leaders learn from junior employees. While typical mentoring programs arrange for a senior manager to teach the more junior employee, Reverse Mentoring is the opposite: it’s all about a leader leaning into their vulnerability, forming a relationship with an underrepresented employee, and amplifying the voice of marginalized people within the company. Reverse Mentoring offers various tips to make reverse mentorship work. Gordon explores the power of uncomfortable and awkward moments becoming key points of transformation when people have to pause, reflect and assess their past behaviors and current assumptions which are at odds with the topic at hand. She ultimately reveals how bringing more humanity into our organizations allows us to see one another and ourselves in a radically new light.

Reverse Mentoring written by Earl Creps and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-10-14 with Religion categories.

Earl Creps is known for his work in connecting the younger generation of postmoderns with their Boomer predecessors. The author of Off-Road Disciplines, Creps, in this new book, takes up the topic of how older church leaders can learn from younger leaders who are more conversant with culture, technology, and social context. In addition to making the benefits of what he calls "reverse mentoring" apparent, he also makes it accessible by offering practical steps to implement this discipline at both personal and organizational levels, particularly in communication, evangelism, and leadership. Creps' new book is a topic of interest both inside and outside the church as older leaders realize that they're not "getting it" when it comes to technologies (iPod, IM, blogging) or cultural issues such as the fact that younger people see the world in an entirely different way. Creps has been personally involved in reverse mentoring for several years and has spoken and written on the subject extensively. He has pastored three churches (one Boomer, one Builder, on X'er) and is currently a church planter in Berkeley, California. He has also served as a consultant and and a seminary professor and administrator, holding a PhD in Communication Studies and a D.Min. from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary.

When most people talk about mentoring, they think of introducing people to one another for mutual benefits from knowing each other. In the workplace, as well as in schools and churches, younger people are training their older colleagues about the technical landscape. Younger employees coach senior executives, thus seniors can learn much from juniors. Therefore, Reverse Mentoring is most effective when senior mentors are teachable and humble about the process.

"Reverse mentoring turns traditional mentoring on its head, by having a young employee serve as mentor to a seasoned member of management. Businesses have been using it to teach their senior leaders the wonders of social media and other disruptive technology, but the roots of reverse mentoring run far deeper than this. Youthful mentorship has, in fact, inspired some of the most important people in history and influenced events which have changed the world. In mentoring Reversed bestselling author Peter Gregoire brings these stories to light and shows how, through reverse mentoring, it is possible to build a deep understanding across generations and embed diversity, humility, creativity and imagination into the culture of any organization."--Back cover
