Era junho de 1969. Precisamente, dia 28, quando um grupo de homossexuais reagiu à violência policial num bar no Greenwich Village, em Nova York. Essa reação reverberou e fez com que surgissem as paradas para celebrar a diversidade, mostrar orgulho e resistência. Para abordar o assunto, neste Mês da Diversidade, trazemos histórias de pessoas que, de algum modo, transitam pelas diversas possibilidades de se identificar e de (se) amar. Os depoimentos de Ana e Gigi, Samuel, Gabriel, Aurora, Bryanna, Amiel, Maria e Sam, coletados com uma escuta atenta e sensível pela repórter especial Luciana Veras e pela jornalista em formação Tanit Rodrigues, mostram como as caixas, os estereótipos e as definições fechadas não dão conta das nossas infinitas possibilidade de ser. A própria sigla LGBTQIAP+, com o seu sinal de soma ao final, já nos indica outras possibilidades de identificação. O que nos parece acertada é a fundamental necessidade de vivermos com liberdade as nossas sexualidades e os nossos afetos. Nesse sentido, também, entendemos que as definições e autodefinições por hora válidas podem se transformar daqui a pouco. E está tudo certo, nada errado. A ideia de que a visão de si e sua representação social são mutáveis está bem expressa no jogo da personagem diante do espelho da ilustração de capa, feita por Filipe Aca. Os relatos que sucedem na reportagem deixam isso igualmente evidente. Complementando a abordagem do assunto, trazemos neste número 258 uma entrevista com o jovem historiador e sociólogo francês Antonie Idier, que tem se ocupado de pesquisar e registrar a história das vivências LGBT+ na França desde o final do século XIX. Em sua fala, ele ressalta a importância de documentar esse passado, resgatando aquilo que foi apagado. Autor de Archives des mouvements LGBT+ : Une histoire des luttes de 1890 à nos jours, quando indagado sobre o porquê de ter usado a sigla desta forma e não da forma atual, LGBTQIAP+, responde: "talvez em cinco, 10 ou 20 anos, outras letras estarão presentes na sigla mais corrente ou mesmo outras siglas serão necessárias. A escolha da sigla LGBT+ para o título foi um modo de lembrar que essas maneiras de se definir evoluem sem cessar, carregando com elas todos os anacronismos possíveis". É nesse fluxo e nessa amplitude de possibilidades e de reconhecimentos que acreditamos. Boa leitura!

"Para vocês que discriminam a música brega, escutem bem o que eu vou cantar: 'Todo mundo é brega,/ mas tem besta que não admite/ e pensa que é o bom que é somente chique'", canta Ismael Rabelo, cujo título da canção estampa a capa deste mês, resumindo bem o lugar do brega no Brasil. "Tudo que, para a elite, era música de pobre, era brega. Era considerado chulo, lixo", lembra a cantora recifense Palas Pinho, uma das entrevistadas da reportagem desta edição, assinada pelo jornalista e pesquisador musical Antonio Lira. Com fôlego de panorama abrangente da produção bregueira contemporânea e de fases anteriores, a matéria aponta luzes sobre uma cena que, há tempos, faz do Recife o coração – ou pelo menos um dos órgãos vitais – desse corpo pulsante. E não apenas como um gênero musical, senão como um movimento que tem se estabelecido em espaços de legitimação e extrapolado as fronteiras da cidade, angariando fãs e seguidores no país inteiro, sobretudo com o brega funk e o passinho. "Seja nas carrocinhas, nas vitrines de lojas de departamento, nos programas de auditório locais, nas caixinhas de som espalhadas pelo transporte público e pelas praças, no som que vem da casa dos vizinhos, nas festas populares, bailes de casamento e formatura, nas boates noturnas, nos discos de Pabllo Vittar e Alice Caymmi e nas referências sonoras e estéticas de artistas como Johnny Hooker, Duda Beat e mesmo Anitta, é quase impossível passar imune a essa música produzida em Pernambuco", escreve Antonio, que também repercute na reportagem a aprovação da lei que reconhece o brega como Expressão Cultural Pernambucana no Estado de Pernambuco. Sobre a potência da música que nasce das periferias, protagonizada por negros e negras, conversa conosco a pesquisadora Luciana Xavier. Na entrevista, ela destaca a importância de cenas como a Black Rio e a soul music, no Rio de Janeiro, e a força política da festa. Luciana comenta sobre as possibilidades de pesquisadores se relacionarem com seus assuntos a partir de novas metodologias, brincando com a expressão "etnografias alcoolizadas", ao se referir aos que têm nas festas um campo de trabalho acadêmico. Aliás, é a bebida entrando e o brega tocando. Na reportagem, lemos como o "efeito libertador" do álcool pode contribuir para que os mais tímidos cedam aos encantos do brega na pista. Marcante ao longo da história da literatura brasileira, a poesia pernambucana impõe-se, desde o Movimento de 22, passando pela Geração de 45, período em que se notabilizaram Manuel Bandeira, Joaquim Cardozo e João Cabral de Melo Neto, entre outros. Biodiversity, sometimes simply understood as "diversity of species", is a specific quality of life on our planet, the dimensions and importance of which have just lately been fully realized. Today we know that "biological diversity is a global asset of incalculable value to present and future generations" (Kofi Annan). Biodiversity is spread unequally over the world: in fact, the main share of biological resources worldwide is harboured predominantly by the so-called developing countries in the tropics and sub tropics. Therefore, Biodiversity - A Challenge for Development Research and Policy was chosen as the title for an international conference which was held in Bonn in 1997 as one of the first major events organized by the then newly established North-South Centre for Development Research (ZEF) at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universitat Bonn (Germany). Since the ZEF, founded by the Senate of the University of Bonn in 1995, has played a central role in turning Bonn into a centre for international cooperation and North-South dialogue. The Centre is a product of the Bonn Berlin agreement of July 1994 which was adopted to offset the effects caused by the Parliament and much of the Government moving to Berlin. It fits in well with the double strategy to strengthen Bonn's position as an interna tional science arena and as an eminent place for development policy and the national and supranational agencies dealing with this issue.
