Since 1800 diaries have been in the centre of scientific research. This can be observed repeatedly in the beginnings of new disciplines. The aims of the scholars were various: both the early childhood research of the 19th century and the adolescent psychology from 1920 built significant theses on ›normal processes‹ of the human development upon personal testimonies. Since the 1980s scholars from the disciplines of Alltagsgeschichte, social and women history examined traces of individual biographies. Since then, comprehensive collections have been created which enable a differentiated auto-/biography research. Li Gerhalter not only focuses on actors of this various history but also on scholars, collectors and people who provided these diaries. With this book she gives insights in the manifold diary research and time-dependent research methods.

Macroeconomics And New Macroeconomics written by Bernhard Felderer and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992-08-21 with Business & Economics categories.

This book gives a comprehensive account of traditional and more recent developments in macroeconomic theory. It is written primarily for students at the intermediate level. The book differs from the customary expositions in that the authors do not discuss topic by topic but orthodoxy by orthodoxy. Thus, the main approaches, like Classical theory, Keynesian theory, theory of portfolio selection, Monetarism, Rational Expectations theory, and Neokeynesian "disequilibrium" theory are presented in historical order. Each of these approaches is substantiated and criticized in a self-contained chapter, and the authors have taken great pains to bring out the relations and differences between them. A mathematical appendix reviews those mathematical facts which are especially important for macroeconomic models and serves to make the text easy to read.

The book analyzes, compares, and contrasts tools and techniques used in risk management at corporate, strategic business and project level and develops a risk management mechanism for the sequencing of risk assessment through corporate, strategic and project stages of an investment in order to meet the requirements of the 1999 Turnbull report. By classifying and categorizing risk within these levels it is possible to drill down and roll-up to any level of the organizational structure and to establish the risks that each project is most sensitive to, so that appropriate risk response strategies may be implemented to benefit all stakeholders. "The new edition of this book provides a clear insight into the intricacies of corporate risk management and the addition of the case study exemplars aids understanding of the management of multiple projects in the real world." —Professor Nigel Smith, Head of the School of Civil Engineering, University of Leeds

The New Punitiveness written by John Pratt and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-06-17 with Social Science categories.

Throughout much of the western world more and more people are being sent to prison, one of a number of changes inspired by a 'new punitiveness' in penal and political affairs. This book seeks to understand these developments, bringing together leading authorities in the field to provide a wide-ranging analysis of new penal trends, compare the development of differing patterns of punishment across different types of societies, and to provide a range of theoretical analyses and commentaries to help understand their significance. As well as increases in imprisonment this book is also concerned to address a number of other aspects of 'the new punitiveness': firstly, the return of a number of forms of punishment previously thought extinct or inappropriate, such as the return of shaming punishments and chain gangs (in parts of the USA); and secondly, the increasing public involvement in penal affairs and penal development, for example in relation to length of sentences and the California Three Strikes Law, and a growing accreditation of the rights of victims. The book will be essential reading for students seeking to understand trends and theories of punishment on law, criminology, penology and other courses.
