By the end of the Spanish Civil War in March of 1939, almost 500,000 Spaniards had fled Francisco Franco's newly established military dictatorship. More than 275,000 refugees in France were immediately interned in hastily constructed concentration camps, most of which were located along the open shorelines of France's southernmost beaches. This book chronicles the cultural memory of this war refugee population whose stories as camp inmates in the early 1940s remain largely unknown, unlike the wide dissemination of the literature and testimony of the survivors of Nazi death camps. The hidden history of France's seaside camps for Spanish Republicans spawned a rich legacy of cultural works that dramatically demonstrate how a displaced political community began to reconstitute itself from the ruins of war, literally from the sands of exile. Versucht haben sich u.a. Helmut Kossodo (1949) Enrique Beck (1982), Martin von Koppenfels (2002) und Gustav Siebenmann (2007). Verschiedene Zieltexte sind das Resultat. Ziel der Arbeit war es, die Übertragungen der "Romance de la Guardia Civil Española" aus "Romancero Gitano" (Lorca, 1928)von Beck und Koppenfels zu analysieren und diskutieren. Viele Umstände wie z.B. (fremd-)sprachliche und kulturelle Kenntnisse, Zeit und Zeitpunkt der Übertragung, eventuell bereits zuvor vorhandene Zieltexte („Kometenschweif“) usw. beeinflussen den jeweiligen Übersetzer in seiner Arbeit. Im Mittelpunkt steht die mögliche Absicht des Übersetzers und dessen Herangehensweise an den Text - soweit man dies rekonstruieren kann - und natürlich die Konsequenzen für den Rezipienten im Hinblick auf Verständnis, Wirkung und sprachliche Ästhetik. Deshalb werden in dieser Hausarbeit die beiden Zieltexte auf interne Kohärenz und Besonderheiten untersucht sowie Abweichungen vom Ausgangstext aufgezeigt und gewertet. Weitere Bestandteile sind Vermutungen zur Übersetzungskonzeption und Bemerkungen zum Kometenschweif.

Su poesía destaca por su fuerte simbolismo, así como por aunar referentes de la cultura popular andaluza y elevarlos a la alta cultura. En su faceta como dramaturgo, está considerado uno de los autores señeros del teatro español. Murió asesinado al inicio de la Guerra Civil española a causa de su condición sexual y su ideología.

Spanish Poetry of the Grupo Poético de 1927 is an anthology of poems by members of Grupo Poético de 1927, an association of poets who sought to detach poetry from non-poetic elements such as narrative, anecdote, political or social preoccupations, or didacticism. Seven poets are represented: Pedro Salinas, Jorge Guillén, Gerardo Diego, Federico García Lorca, Vicente Aleixandre, Rafael Alberti, and Luis Cernuda. This text consists of eight chapters and begins with an introduction to changing trends in poetry in Spain between 1918 and the present. Biographical notes are included to show the effect (or lack of effect) of these movements on the individual poets. Movements such as ultraismo and maestria are discussed, along with the tercentenary of the death of Spanish poet Luis de Góngora, the crisis suffered by the Grupo, and late developments in the poets of the Grupo. The chapters that follow focus on the works of the Grupo poets. This book is written specifically for sixth-formers and undergraduates, as well as anyone with an interest in Spanish poetry.
