Excerpt from Rules and Regulations of the Board of Health for the City of Bradford, Penn'a The salary of the secretary and of the health officer shall be such as may be fixed by the said board, and they shall hold office during the pleasure of the said board. They shall severally give bond to the city in the sum of one hundred dollars, or in such sum as may hereafter be fixed by ordinance, conditioned for the faithful discharge of their duties, and they shall also take and subscribe the oath required of members of the board. And all fees which shall be collected or received by the board, or by any officers thereof in his official capacity, shall be paid over into the city treasury monthly, together with all penalties which shall be recovered for the violation of any regulation of the board. The president and secretary shall have power to administer oaths or affirmations in any proceeding or investigation touching the regulations of the board, but shall not be entitled to receive any fee therefor. Excerpt from Rules, Regulations and by-Laws of the Board of Health of the City of New Haven Sec. 4. Said Board of Health may employ at the expense said city a Health Officer, with such powers and duties as they may prescribe, and may also, with the consent of said Board of Aldermen, appoint not exceeding three Assistant Health Officers, to be paid by said city, when on duty, such compensation as said Board of Health shall agree upon. Sec. 5. It is hereby made the duty of the Police Department. Of said city to render, upon the written request of said Board, certified by its clerk and endorsed by the Mayor, such assistance in the enforcement of its by-laws, rules and regulations and orders as said Board shall deem necessary. Sec. 6. All the ordinary expenses of said Board shall be paid by said city, after the same have been duly audited by the said Board. Said Board shall incur no extraordinary expense, and enter into no contract except as hereinbefore authorized, without the previous consent of the Court of Common Council of said city, and shall serve without compensation.
