The Wild Adventures of Running Deer is brought to you by an adventurous, adolescent boy named Running Deer and his friends Skeeter, Weasel, Beaver, and Buzzard. It's about a clique of boys who play in the woods and along a river with frogs and turtles, build forts and rafts, and get into all kinds of mischief. Running Deer is a curious, young naturalist, coming-of-age in a time and place gone by. He was fortunate to be raised in a loving home surrounded by nature and seldom restrained by watchful eyes, unreasonable rules and fickle warnings, nor dissuaded from his interests and activities. By the time Running Deer reached six years, he had nurtured several species of wild, orphaned animals, explored the green environment around him, and gained an understanding about the natural world. By the time he was eight, he befriended several kindred boys and together they pursued many wild escapades. The book is a testament to a simpler time, when children spent their leisure time in the great outdoors, before all our present-day technologies, conveniences and comforts enticed people to stay inside and at home. The stories take place in the mid-1950s and '60s; before most of the wild woods where young Running Deer played as a child were bulldozed, paved, and developed into ribbons of roads and suburban sprawl. These are true tales, real life adventures, more exciting than fiction, remembered for a lifetime and recorded for posterity. They're nostalgic, humorous, thought-provoking, written in the first person and narrated in a New Jersey dialect. The book ends with lessons about nature and how to live with and love nature and help heal the Earth. It is intended to entertain its readers with the wild antics of adventurous children and leave us with a greater appreciation for Mother Earth and all her creations, and for a simpler life and time gone by.

The author has created a character from the early 1700s-Thomas Doty, who lives on a family farm outside of Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania. He meets a weathered sea captain who is down on his luck and short of hands aboard his sloop, the Shannon. Intrigued by adventure, Thomas goes to sea, but ends up shipwrecked and seized by a band of surly cutthroat pirates. Now, amid the designs of some sordid brigands well-acquainted with wanton cruelty, Thomas wonders if his courage and cunning can release him from his captors' wily schemes. His escape from them only hurls him into challenges fraught with unforeseen circumstances as he journeys homeward and beyond, discovering the distant frontier of western Pennsylvania and the Ohio country teeming with Mingo, Delaware, Shawnee, and Seneca Indians intent on preserving their culture from the ever-encroaching whites. As Thomas negotiates with death on the one hand and life on the other, survival forces him onward. He encounters English and French traders and finds friends, love, and a mortal enemy as he endures life within the turmoil of the French and Indian War, Pontiac's Rebellion, and the siege of Fort Pitt.

The 1908 Olympic Games were controversial. There was almost constant bickering among the American team and the British officials. Because of the controversies, the 1908 Olympics have been termed "The Battle of Shepherd's Bush," referring to the site of the Olympic Stadium. Reports of the 1908 Olympics have been rare and do not for instance contain full results for archery, track and field athletics, football (soccer), gymnastics, motorboating and shooting. A great deal of new information has been discovered by the authors, and this work gives complete results for all events. The information presented is based primarily on 1908 sources. For the first time, definitive word on the sites, dates, events, competitors, and nations as well as the event results are available for all of the 1908 Olympic events, including boxing, cycling, diving, fencing, field hockey, lacrosse, polo, raquets, swimming, lawn tennis, tug-of-war, weightlifting, wrestling and yachting, among other sports. A series of appendices include rarely seen information about the many controversies surrounding the Games.
