What was Italian poetry like in the years of extraordinary historical, intellectual, aesthetic, and spiritual change between the 1860s and the Unification of Italy in the 1960s? In A Selection of Modern Italian Poetry in Translation Roberta Payne provides a bilingual collection of ninety-two poems by thirty-five Italian poets, including works of classicism and passionate decadentism, examples of crepuscularism, and poetry by Ungaretti, Montale, and Quasimodo. Payne pays particular attention to poets of the fifties and sixties, futurists, and female poets. She notes that the futurists, who have rarely been translated, were particularly important as they were truly original, attempting to develop new notions of word, line, sound, and phrase. Questo è il mio secondo libro. Come il primo, in fondo, parla di me, delle mie idee, introspezioni, osservazioni, fantasie, ricordi e sensazioni scaturenti da una visione contemplativa della realtà e, naturalmente, da una passione per l'arte sublime della poesia.Il mio primo libro "Balzi d'umore e rifless 'e ll'anima" scritto nel 2014 ha raccolto poesie scritte di getto in pochi mesi e rappresentanti i miei stati d'animo variabili ed imprevedibili. Questo secondo libro, che come il primo mi racconta. è più meditato e raccoglie, oltre alle poesie pur sempre scritte secondo le stesse modalità, un mio parere lucido ovvero il "secondo me" inerente il contenuto sostanziale o formale delle stesse. Chiaramente questa linea di pensiero lucida e logica, che ha richiesto uno sforzo aggiuntivo, completa il senso della poesia e nel contempo fornisce una chiave di lettura della mia visione ed ispirazione. La poesia scaturisce in ogni caso dall'anima, senza alcuna intenzione né tentazione di snaturarla, ed è scritta col linguaggio originale del pensiero, sempre nella convinzione che solo ciò che è vero può arrivare all'animo di chi legge. Il linguaggio adottato, appunto quello col quale penso e mi esprimo, è costituito da due lingue che a volte uso distintamente ma che il più delle volte mischio tra loro: l'italiano e il napoletano dando origine ad una sorta di nuova modalità espressiva l'italonapoletano. Questo modo di esprimersi, ovvero il dialetto napoletano italianizzato o anche l'italiano dialettizzato è una sorta di neo-volgare parlato senza badarci un po' da tutti nelle mie zone. Non è però usato nella scrittura, anche per tale motivo a fianco delle poesie scritte in tal modo ho inserito una traduzione/parafrasi con l'intento di rendere fruibile a tutti il contenuto. Nel libro vi sono comunque molte poesie scritte in italiano che resta la mia lingua, quella della scrittura corrente nel lavoro, in argomenti scolastici e di studio. Uso altresì la lingua italiana in riferimento a fatti e persone che ritengo non possano essere espressi con forme dialettali. Versi in italiano ma anche in latino risultano presenti nelle poesie in italonapoletano producendo, a mio parere, un effetto di evidenziazione o solennità. La poesia resta per me un mondo meraviglioso, un rifugio della mente, un viaggiare con umiltà coraggiosa, una forma di creatività tipicamente umana capace di elevarsi ad arte e per questo uno spazio senza confini. Dedico questo lavoro a tutti quelli che apprezzano il coraggio, l'umiltà, la misura, la cultura e l'amore verso il prossimo.
