Kandri Hinjuman was never meant to be a soldier. His brother Mektu was never meant for this world. Rivals since childhood, they are drafted into a horrific war led by a madwoman-Prophet, and survive each day only by hiding their disbelief. Kandri is good at blending in, but Mektu is hopeless: impulsive, erratic-and certain that a demon is stalking him. Is this madness or a second sense? Either way, Kandri knows that Mektu's antics will land them both in early graves. But all bets are off when the brothers' simmering feud explodes into violence, and holy blood is spilled. Kandri and Mektu are taken for contract killers and must flee for their lives-to the one place where they can hope to disappear: the sprawling desert known as the Land that Eats Men. In this eerie wilderness, the terrain is as deadly as the monsters, ghouls, and traffickers in human flesh. Here the brothers find strange allies: an aging warlord, a desert nomad searching for her family, a lethal child-soldier still in her teens. They also find themselves in possession of a secret that could bring peace to the continent of Urrath. Or unthinkable carnage. On their heels are the Prophet's death squads. Ahead lie warring armies, sandstorms, evil spirits and the deeper evil of human greed. But hope beckons as well-if the "Master Assassins" can expose the lie that has made them the world's most wanted men.

The Breviary Of Fire written by Mectilde of the Blessed Sacrament and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-19 with categories.

A prominent woman in Parisian society, Marie de la Guesle-the Countess of Châteauvieux-met Mother Mectilde of the Blessed Sacrament on a charity visit in August 1651. So taken was she with the Prioress's wisdom that she returned several days later to resume the conversation. Soon the nun began to serve as the Countess's spiritual guide, leading her in the paths of faith, self-renunciation, prayer, and the pure love of God. The Countess and her husband became great benefactors of Mother Mectilde's newly established order, the Benedictines of Perpetual Adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament, and on the day after her husband's death in November of 1662, the Countess herself entered the convent she had helped to build. A permanent record of the friendship, which grew ever deeper between the mystic of Lorraine and the grand lady, was left in their candid and multifaceted correspondence, conducted over a period of about a dozen years. Marie later arranged Mectilde's letters into a volume which she called her "breviary of fire." Benedictine in its fundamental principles, Mother Mectilde's teaching reflects and contributes to the French School, which included such luminaries as Pierre de Bérulle, St. John Eudes, and Jean-Jacques Olier, while drawing freely on other sources, especially St. John of the Cross and St. Francis de Sales. Mother Mectilde's gifts of psychological penetration and practical mysticism are fully evident in the advice she gave to Marie de Châteauvieux, which her daughters in religion eagerly recopied and passed down for over three centuries, and which is now available for the first time in English in a translation that faithfully reflects the fiery quality of the original.

Reclaim The Fire written by Martin W. Pable and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-05-01 with Religion categories.

It is time to rekindle the fire, to find hope and new life in the church. Fr. Martin Pable takes a good look at the church and confidently offers a powerful and exciting expression of our possibilities. In a time when the church is needed more than ever before, Reclaim the Fire is a beacon, a promise, and a comfort. Many Catholics, Pable says, have learned doctrine and participated in sacraments, but have not been evangelized. They have not been taught to know Jesus Christ in a real way. Reclaim the Fire recaptures the heart, the soul, and the mission of the church, and in so doing, feeds the fire started when the church began. Pable outlines a way to reverse discouraging trends and bring the people back to the faith. He looks to our present culture and shows how the church can be a light to the nations, and he demonstrates how every parish can spread the gospel message with enthusiasm. No parish should be without this important resource.

In From the Beginning to Baptism, Linda Gibler takes readers on a journey 'from the depths of space and the beginning of time through sacred Scripture and church history 'to discover the origins and creative power of water, oil, and fire. She traces the lives of those elemental entities through their cosmic history, to the point at which they are poured over the head and light the way of one being baptized. These elemental sources of all life are the substances through which new life in Christ begins in the sacrament of baptism. The journey through space and time, through the birth of the Universe and of life, and Gibler's reflections on this drama, help readers to enter into the cosmocentric spirituality" at the heart of all things. No one who reads this book will ever again look at a drop of water, an olive, or a candle with the same eyes. Linda Gibler, PhD, a Houston Dominican Sister, is currently associate academic dean at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas. She has several years ' experience as a parish minister and is the science editor and a contributing author for the Collins Foundation Press, which hosts conferences on the significance of recent scientific revelations for faith, meaning, and the well-being of Earth and all her species.

Ancient Fire written by Ken Heer and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Religion categories.

The greatest challenge and responsibility in contemporary worship is distinguishing between the fire and the ashes--to stoke the fire of God's presence while simultaneously disposing of the ashes of obsolete worship styles and practices. As contemporary worship moves from traditional to modern to postmodern, how can pastors and worship leaders be sure they are retaining what is essential to genuine worship even as they leave behind the practices of the past? Ken Heer challenges church leaders to rediscover the power and significance behind the church's ancient rituals and sacraments so the fire of God's presence in them can be carried forward to present and future generations. Heer offers substantive discussion on the meaning of our rituals as well as practical guidance on transferring these ancient forms into modern and postmodern worship settings.

Swear To God written by Scott Hahn and has been published by Image this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-10-18 with Religion categories.

The most solemn, majestic, and beautiful gifts that Jesus Christ gave to the world are His sacraments. He endowed them with unprecedented and unparalleled power—power to change lives, save souls, and share God’s very life. The sacraments are the ordinary means by which God directs the course of each human life and all of world history. The Church celebrates seven sacraments: baptism, Eucharist, confirmation, matrimony, holy orders, confession, and anointing of the sick. Each was established by Jesus for the sake of salvation. When Jesus spoke of the sacraments, He made clear that they were essential: Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God (Jn 3:5) . . . unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of man and drink His blood, you have no life in you (Jn 6: 53). In Swear to God, Dr. Scott Hahn explores the richness of Christ’s sacraments—their doctrine, history, symbols, and rituals. Drawing upon the Bible and the Church’s tradition, he shows how God’s covenants—with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David—became the driving forces in history. When Jesus came to fulfill all these covenants, He established a new covenant, with greater power than ever before. Christians are God’s children now. Joined to Christ by baptism, we can already share in the eternal life of the Trinity, a life we hope to know fully in heaven. But heaven is with us, even now, in the sacraments.
