This book highlights the advances and trends in the safety analysis of sodium-cooled fast reactors, especially from the perspective of particle bed-related phenomena during core disruptive accidents. A sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) is an optimized candidate of the next-generation nuclear reactor systems. Its safety is a critical issue during its R&D process. The book elaborates on research progresses in particle bed-related phenomena in terms of the molten-pool mobility, the molten-pool sloshing motion, the debris bed formation behavior, and the debris bed self-leveling behavior. The book serves as a good reference for researchers, professionals, and postgraduate students interested in sodium-cooled fast reactors. Knowledge provided is also useful for those who are engaging in severe accident analysis for lead-cooled fast reactors and light water reactors.

Effect Of Overlaying Steel Layers On The Growth Of Molten Core Debris Pools In Concrete Lmfbr written by and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1979 with categories.
Following a hypothetical core disruptive accident (HCDA) in a fast reactor, the core debris may be in the form of a molten pool which is volumetrically heated by the radioactive decay of the dissolved fission products. The debris pool may be retained in the concrete support structure below the reactor vessel. It grows continually by melting the concrete which readily dissolves in the pool. The purpose of this research is to simulate the heat and mass transfer processes taking place in the molten steel/core debris/concrete system. The effects of the initially-lighter steel layer atop the pool and the subsequent inversion process on the transient radial and downward growth rates of the pool are investigated.
