On the borders of the “Land o’ Dreams” and broad daylight, the real and the unreal are so strangely blended that children are puzzled to know where the boundary lies. It is from this land that these 28 illustrated bedtime stories in this volume are taken. Herein you will find stories like: The Eatyoup The Tell-Tale Goblin The Peacock Butterflies The Little China Shepherdess How The Buttercup Grew Yellow Inquisitive Mr. Possum When Jack Frost Was Young The Wind-Flower's Story Orianna Old North Wind; and many, many more. These stories are taken from that dream-place where good wishes come true: where the poor and the lonely are rich in castles and have friends: and where sorrowful folk are happy. Here you will hear the birds singing and children laughing, all day long. The trees are full of blossom and fruit. The sky is always blue, the grass green and soft. Under the trees dwell the fairies, and against the blue sky you will sometimes see the sheen of angels’ wings as they flit by. We invite you to curl up with this unique sliver of Bedtime Fairy culture not seen in print for many-a-year, and immerse yourself and your children in the tales and fables of yesteryear. ---------------------------- KEYWORDS: fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, children’s stories, bygone era, fairydom, fairy land, fairies, elves, pixies, pixy, pisky, piskies, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, fables, Eatyoup, Tell-Tale, Goblin, Dame Cricket, Playroom Wedding, Morning-Glory, Peacock Butterflies, Revenge, Gnomes, Little China, Shepherdess, How The Buttercup Grew Yellow, Field Fairy, Frogs, Fairies, Jack The Preacher, Mr. Crow, Tells, Discontented Dewdrop, Inquisitive, Possum, Flowers, Martha, Jack Frost, Young, Fireflies, Sallie Hicks, Forefinger, Rain Elves, Mr. Fox, Housewarming, Pitcher-Man, Wind-Flower's Story, Pussy Willow, Furs, Orianna, Old North Wind, Cottontails, Little Never-Upset

A fantastic YA tale of the demon-haunted forests of 13th C. Germany. In the Dale of the Dragon, or Der Tal des Drachen, lives a young man named Jerome, the hero of our story. In the surrounding forest lives the witch Martha and her twin ravens which speak of Satan, who even makes an appearance to tempt Jerome to the dark side of life. But what is a haunted forest if it doesn’t have robber barons and outlaws, and what would our story be without Agnes the maiden, who is, of course, in distress. Who is the mysterious Saint of the Dragon's Dale - a powerful, mysterious figure with a dark secret. Will he ride in to save the day, or will he be too late. To find the answers to these, and any other questions you may have, download this little book and find out for yourself. ============ KEYWORDS/TAGS: fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, children, young adult, stories, bygone era, , Saint of the dragon’s dale, Abbess, abbey, Action, adventure, Agnes, Andreas, angel, Bamberg, Baron, basket, battlement, beasts, Beelzebub, blackened, burgomaster, castle, palace, Christ, Christian, Church, Clement, crucifix, Dale of the Dragon, Dale, Dame, Davis, demons, Devil, Dragon, dungeon, Eisenach, Emperor, forest, Franz, Franz-of-the-Ram’s-Pate, Frederick, Freiherr, Fritz, frowned, furze, gate, Gerda, Germany, glade, God, golden, Goslar, Graf, Count, greenwood, Gustav, Harun, Harz, heaven, helmet, Hems, herald, hermit, holy, Italy, Jerome, hero, heroine, in distress, Jesuit, Johann, Judgment, Kaiser, kiss, knight, lanzknecht, laugh, laughter, Lord, Ludwig, maid, maiden, Martha the Witch, Masterless, Mathilde, men-at-arms, Michael, midnight, moon, moonlight, Mordecai, noble, partridge, paynim, pixies, poacher, portcullis, postern, prayer, Priest, ransom, raven, Rome, rose, Rudolf, Saint, Satan, sheepskin, Sigismund, squire, sun, sword, temptation, Thuringerwald, Thuringia, turn to stone, Ulrich, Wartburg, wench, wicked, Witch, Wolf, Zebek, Zodok

Herein are 11 tales taken from the time when the earth was young. In those days, indeed, the grown folk all loved wonder tales as well as children love them now and were not worse because of it. Sometimes these wonder tales were told by magic chairs or chests; sometimes by birds or beasts that were enchanted and had power of speech. It is from these wonder tales that these 11 stories have been selected. The stories in this volume are: I Dame Grumble and Her Curious Apple-Tree II A Tale of the Northland Kingdom III The Little Tree that Never Grew Up IV The Tale of Punchinello V The Strange Tale of the Brown Bear VI The Beggar Princess VII Sweep and Little Sweep VIII Kings and Queens and Peasant Folk IX The Goose Girl and the Blue Gander X The Little Brown Man XI A Tale for Halloween These tales are from long, long ago, when all the world was young and there were but few people dwelling on it, the strangest things would often come to pass. This was the time when fairyfolk still lived in the greenwoods and elves sang and danced in the soft summer dawns. Then trees could sing and flowers speak and birds would carry messages about the world; wild beasts were not always wild and ferocious and were often loyal friends to men and helped them in their difficulties. In these old days, most noble dukes and earls would fall in love with dairymaids whose gentle ways and manners charmed their hearts. Sometimes great kings grew weary of the splendor of their courts and left their thrones to live a simple life. Each princess had a fairy godmother who showered her with magic gifts. Wise men read the stars and seers would gaze in crystal bowls to tell the coming good or ill they saw. In those old days, the housewives left a bit of bread and cheese upon the pantry shelf each evening, that the brownie who was said to dwell in every kitchen might have a midnight feast. These brownies, 'twas said also, would make much mischief if they were not treated very well. In early dawns, when fields of flowers were a-sparkle with dew and sunlight, the milkmaids used to bathe their eyes and ears with dew that they might see the fairyfolk forever afterward and hear them sing at midnight in the surrounding glens. The farmers' boys would search among the hedges in hopes of meeting The Red Caps who were said to bring much luck. These Red Caps too were said to give a magic purse of gold to those they fancied,—a purse that was always brimful no matter what was spent from it. Witches still rode broomsticks through the skies and there were wishing wells and magic charms and spells. So, we invite you to curl up with this unique sliver of Fairy culture not seen in print for over a century; and immerse yourself in the tales and fables of yesteryear. **CHALLENGE: Every story is terminated with an illustrated tailpiece. In this book it is an illustration of mushrooms and plants. See if you can help young readers spot which illustration they have been taken from. 10% of the net sale will be donated to charities by the publisher. ---------------------------- TAGS: fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, children’s stories, bygone era, fairydom, fairy land, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, happy place, happiness, top of the morning, Princess, Dame Grumble, Curious Apple-Tree, Northland Kingdom, Little Tree, Never Grow Up, Punchinello, Strange Tale, Brown Bear, Beggar Princess, Sweep, Little Sweep, Kings, Queens, Peasant Folk, Goose Girl, Blue Gander, Little Brown Man, Halloween, when the world was young, long long ago, magic chairs, magic chest, speaking birds, beasts, enchanted, enchantments, power of speech

This book is for all little boys and girls who love dolls and the stories of Raggedy Andy and Raggedy Ann. Herein you will find 12 stories of Raggedy Ann, written and illustrated by Johnny Gruelle. A companion to the Raggedy Andy Stories, it starts with Marcella visiting her Grandma, who had a quaint old house in the country. When she was there she liked to play up in the attic, for there were so many old forgotten things to find up there. One day, when she had grown tired of playing with the old spinning wheel, she curled up on an old horse-hair sofa to rest. Across the room in a dark corner she spotted an old barrel tucked under the eaves. Wondering what was in it, she set off to explore. Pulling rags and sewing off-cuts from the barrel, like a picture of a very pretty little girl with long curls tied tightly back from her forehead and wearing a long dress and queer pantaloons. And then out of the heap she pulled an old rag doll with only one shoe-button eye and a painted nose and a smiling mouth. Her dress was of soft material, blue with pretty little flowers and dots all over it. And so begins the adventures of Raggedy Ann…… These 12 Raggedy Ann stories are further brought to life with the 67 exquisite illustrations in colour also by Johnny Gruelle. The adventures are: Raggedy Ann Learns A Lesson Raggedy Ann And The Washing Raggedy Ann And The Kite Raggedy Ann Rescues Fido Raggedy Ann And The Painter Raggedy Ann's Trip On The River Raggedy Ann And The Strange Dolls Raggedy Ann And The Kittens Raggedy Ann And The Fairies' Gift Raggedy Ann And The Chickens Raggedy Ann And The Mouse Raggedy Ann's New Sisters This volume is sure to keep you and your young ones enchanted for hours, if not because of the quantity of the content, then their quality. They will have you coming back for more time and again. ============ KEYWORDS/TAGS: fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, childrens stories, bygone era, fairydom, fairy kingdom, ethereal, fairy land, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, happy place, happiness, laughter, Raggedy Ann, Learn A Lesson, Washing, Kite, Rescue, Fido, Paint, Painter, Trip, River, Strange Dolls, Kittens, Fairies, Gift, Chickens, rooster, cock, Mouse, mice, New Sisters, Marcella, country, house, grandma, grandmother

The Story of Princess Nobody is a tale from Fairy Land. A Charming story with equally charming illustrations which enhance the narrative of a much-loved classic that tells the story of Prince Comical and his search for the diminutive princess who doesn’t have a name. To backtrack, the king and queen were childless, and a hasty promise was made by the King of the Fairies when a dwarf offers to provide him and his queen with a much-desired child. The condition was for her hand in marriage when she was old-enough. True to his promise, a child was soon conceived…… As a young girl, the princess lived a charmed life with loving parents, a doting fairy-Godmother and the birds of the forest as her companions. The dwarf reappeared at the appointed time only for the king to realise what he had promised. Princess Nobody is whisked away and hidden deep in the forest in order to protect her. At first several royal suitors seek her out but without success. Finally, Prince Comical succeeds in his search for the diminutive princess overcoming a number of obstacles in his attempt to find her. He woos her and they fall in love and marry (look for the cute image of the prince and princess kissing across the top of a mushroom!) Realising the princess’ predicament has not altered, the prince and princess make a departure and disappear after the marriage and escape the dwarf, and the story has a “happy ever after” ending. Elves, fairies, dwarfs and other denizens of fairyland will prove irresistible to anyone enchanted by the fantasy world of sprites and other little people. Written by Andrew Lang in 1884, the master folklorist, after he saw the illustrations of Richard Doyle. This volume contains 61 BnW and colour illustrations by Doyle. We invite you to curl up with your young ones with this unique sliver of Bedtime Fairy culture not seen in print for many-a-year, and immerse yourself and your children in the tales and fables of yesteryear. 10% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to charities. ---------------------------- KEYWORDS: the story of princess nobody, fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, bygone era, fairydom, fairy land, fairies, elves, pixies, pixy, pisky, piskies, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, fables, Prince Comical, forest, king, queen, fairy-godmother, birds, friends, quest, seek, love, marry, kiss, niente, mushrooms, butterfly, butterflies
