Writing can be fun -- and here's the book to prove it! Hemingway. Dostoevsky. Shakespeare. All of them wrote masterpieces when they were adults. But imagine what they could have written when they were kids, if only they had had this book! Be a Writing Superstar is an irreverent, encouraging writing guide for young readers, which covers a whole spectrum of topics. It succeeds in teaching them the nuts and bolts of the entire writing process -- from brainstorming their early ideas and shaping them on paper, right through to hosting their own book launch! Yes, kids will be trading witty repartee and bon mots with their fellow scribes, as they get their literary game on! And, for when the dreaded writer's block kicks in, kids can draw inspiration from their writing heroes by reading some short interviews with famous Canadian authors and illustrators! Some of Canada's finest, including Robert Munsch, Mélanie Watt, Gordon Korman and Kenneth Oppel, agreed to answer 5 Silly Questions about their writing, and all of them are included in this book. A hilarious reminder that writers are funny people and writing is, above all else, fun!

Hugo is a young Sasquatch who longs for adventure. Boone is young boy who longs to see a Sasquatch. When their worlds collide, they become the unlikeliest pair of best friends. At the Academy for Curious Squidges, Hugo learns all manner of Sneaking—after all, the most important part of being a Sasquatch is staying hidden from humans. But Hugo dreams of roaming free in the Big Wide World rather than staying cooped up in caves. When he has an unexpected run-in with a young human boy, Hugo seizes the opportunity for a grand adventure. Soon, the two team up to search high and low for mythical beasts, like Ogopogos and Snoot-Nosed Gints. On October 20, 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin filmed what they claimed to have been a living, breathing sasquatch at Bluff Creek in Northern California. The footage took the nation, and the world, by storm. The story of how Patterson and Gimlin came to be at Bluff Creek that day is well documented. The story of how the female sasquatch, nicknamed Patty in tribute to Roger Patterson, came to be there, however, has never been told. Until now

Some of you may have noticed that I am not a young man. Once upon a time I was. It is more than 35 years since I first encountered information about what is now known as Bigfoot, 30 years since I began to investigate the phenomenon, and about 29 years since I began a campaign to have it subjected to scientific exploration. On the face of it, this organization and this subject should be a perfect fit. I doubt that there exists any anomaly of as much potential scientific importance that has been so determinedly ignored by the world of science. I understand, however, that most of you are not likely to have paid any attention to it, so with apologies to those who have I am going to begin at the beginning. In British Columbia, where I grew up, stories about hairy forest giants, known there as sasquatch, have been widely publicized since the 1920s. I don't re- member a time when I was not aware of them, but like most city dwellers I considered them to be tall tales, and indeed to some extent they were.

There are things in the woods we don't know about... Dylan's father has always been a little unusual. When he joins a Sasquatch-hunting team led by a top bigfoot-researcher, Dylan feels he needs to keep an eye on his dad, so he teams up with an aging field biologist, Samuel Johnson, on the slops of Mount Saint Helens. But as the two of them track the Sasquatch-hunting party, Dylan might be in more trouble than he thought... Even as they follow his father's group, somebody is following Mr. Johnson. And on top of everything, Dylan is beginning to realize that his father may not be quite so wrong about bigfoot after all--maybe the Sasquatch does exist. And maybe it's closer than Dylan ever guessed.
