An unusually polyvalent symbol, fire assumes numerous functions in the Bible. It is a defining feature of theophanies, it serves as an instrument of judgment, and in some instances it cleanses and purifies. Examining a complex of traditions ranging from John the Baptist to Jesus of Nazareth and from the Pauline to the Petrine Epistles, Daniel Frayer-Griggs identifies a recurring motif in the New Testament, arguing that these disparate traditions, which appear in both very early and very late New Testament texts, testify to a shared belief that everyone--both the righteous and the wicked--would be subjected to eschatological judgment by fire and that the righteous would experience this judgment as a fiery ordeal through which they would be tested and, in some cases, ultimately purified.

If you enjoyed ‘The Kiss Quotient,’ by Helen Hoang, read Things You Save in a Fire”’ – THE WASHINGTON POST From the New York Times bestselling author of How to Walk Away comes a stunning new novel about courage, hope, and learning to love against all odds. Cassie Hanwell was born for emergencies. As one of the only female firefighters in her Texas firehouse, she's seen her fair share of them, and she's a total pro at other people's tragedies. But when her estranged and ailing mother asks her to give up her whole life and move to Boston, Cassie suddenly has an emergency of her own. The tough, old-school Boston firehouse is as different from Cassie's old job as it could possibly be. Hazing, a lack of funding, and poor facilities mean that the firemen aren't exactly thrilled to have a "lady" on the crew—even one as competent and smart as Cassie. Except for the infatuation-inspiring rookie, who doesn't seem to mind having Cassie around. But she can't think about that. Because love is girly, and it’s not her thing. And don’t forget the advice her old captain gave her: Never date firefighters. Cassie can feel her resolve slipping...and it means risking it all—the only job she’s ever loved, and the hero she’s worked like hell to become. Katherine Center's Things You Save in a Fire is a heartfelt and healing tour-de-force about the strength of vulnerability, the nourishing magic of forgiveness, and the life-changing power of defining courage, at last, for yourself.

Essays In Early Christianity written by Jonathan Ramachandran and has been published by Christian Publishing House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-13 with Religion categories.

Is there hope beyond the elect? What did the earliest Christians believe about prophecy, judgment, and salvation? In ESSAYS IN EARLY CHRISTIANITY, Jonathan Ramachandran explores ancient theological possibilities grounded in Scripture and the writings of the earliest Church Fathers. With careful adherence to the historical-grammatical method and a commitment to literal biblical interpretation, Ramachandran revisits the long-forgotten Chiliasm model—a belief in the literal thousand-year reign of Christ on earth—as taught by voices like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and Papias. This volume offers bold insights into the prospect of Non-Elect Salvation—the idea that some may be saved outside the elect Bride of Christ, not through presumption, but through divine mercy and postmortem judgment. Through in-depth analysis of Scripture and early Christian testimony, Ramachandran raises provocative questions: Are there two distinct resurrections separated by 1,000 years? Do Revelation and 1 Corinthians 15 describe gradations of resurrection glory? Could the “surprised sheep” of Matthew 25 represent non-elect salvation? Designed for pastors, seminary students, and thoughtful churchgoers, this accessible yet rigorous work is not speculative theology but evidence-driven inquiry. Readers are invited to examine early Christian prophecy with open Bibles and discerning minds—testing all things and holding fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

This is the most up-to-date, comprehensive, and thorough defense of the Catholic Church against Protestant objections in print. This book is especially relevant as the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation draws near and discussion of the arguments made against the Church during that time in history receive renewed interest. The Case for Catholicism answers arguments put forward by early Reformers like Luther and Calvin as well as contemporary defenders of Protestantism like Norm Geisler and R.C. Sproul. It provides a meticulous defense of the biblical and historical nature of Catholic doctrines from Scripture and church history. Finally, in both answering Protestant objections to Catholicism and in providing evidence for the Faith, The Case for Catholicism cites modern Protestant scholars who question Reformation assumptions and show how evidence from Scripture and church history support aspects of Catholic theology. This book is divided into four sections, with each answering a key question Christians have asked about the nature of their faith. Those key questions are: What is my authority? What is the Church? How am I saved? Who belongs to the body of Christ? The Case for Catholicism will become a reliable, resource for any Catholic who desires a well-researched, readable, and persuasive answer to Protestant arguments made against the Catholic faith.
