Die vorliegende Analyse möchte, unter Verzicht auf die übliche Form der Länderkunde, dem Leser zusammen mit einer politischen Grundinfor mation das politologische Handwerkszeug vermitteln, mit dessen Hilfe er die gegenwärtige und künftige Entwicklung in Afrika leichter verfolgen und eigenständig beurteilen kann. Demensprechend ist die Analyse nicht nach Ländern oder Regionen gegliedert, sondern nach Problemkreisen. Zur Frage der politischen Systeme sowie der Innen- und Außenpolitik werden gegensätzliche Auffassungen deutlich gemacht.
