Hierbei geht sie der Frage nach „Welche Angebote kann die psychosoziale Beratung im Rahmen der sozialen Arbeit Frauen aus patriarchalisch geprägten Herkunftsländern anbieten, dass sie für sie erreichbar sind und wirkmächtige Veränderungen herbeiführen?" Verbrechen und Gewalt im Namen der Ehre stellen eine Menschenrechtsverletzung dar und trotzdem ist die Thematik allgegenwärtig und Vorfälle geschehen weltweit. Laut einem UN-Bericht werden jährlich mindestens 50000 Frauen in 14 Ländern Opfer sogenannter „Ehrenmorde“, die Dunkelziffer ist jedoch um ein Vielfaches höher. Auch wenn in Deutschland bisher noch keine bundesweiten Erhebungen über das Ausmaß von Gewalt im Namen der Ehre bestehen, haben Mädchen und Frauen in der Bundesrepublik unter „Gewalt im Namen der Ehre“ zu leiden. Familien, die solche Gewalttaten ausüben, halten an ihren patriarchalischen Wertvorstellungen ihres Herkunftslandes fest und kommen z.B. aus der Türkei, Irak, Iran, Afghanistan, Kosovo/Albanien, Libanon, Syrien, Pakistan und Jordanien. In Deutschland sind die größten Gruppen Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund türkischer/kurdischer Herkunft (ca. 1,8 Millionen), somit sind hierzulande verhältnismäßig viele Frauen mit diesem Migrationshintergrund von Ehrgewalt betroffen. Dazu lässt sich jedoch anmerken, dass Gewalt im Namen der Ehre kein expliziert religiöses Phänomen ist, sondern sich durch alle Gesellschaftsschichten zieht, insbesondere wenn eine Bevölkerungsgruppe an patriarchalischen Traditionen und veralteten Wertvorstellungen festhält. Betroffene von Ehrgewalt dieser Bevölkerungsgruppe fehlt es unter anderem an Chancengleichheit, dem Zugang zu Bildung, finanzieller Absicherung und sie kämpft mit sozialen Problemen.

This book examines the phenomenon of urban fear – the increasing anxiety over crime and violence in Western cities despite their high safety – with a view to developing a comprehensive, critical, exploratory theory of fear, space, and urban planning that unravels the paradoxes of their mutual relations. By focusing especially on the southern European cities of Palermo and Lisbon, the book also aims to expand upon recent studies on urban geopolitics, enriching them from the perspective of ordinary, as opposed to global, cities. Readers will find enlightening analysis of the ways in which urban fear is (re)produced, including by misinformative discourses on security and fear and the political construction of otherness as a means of exclusion.
