Between Script And Scripture Performance Criticism And Mark S Characterization Of The Disciples written by Zach Preston Eberhart and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-25 with Religion categories.

This volume reimagines the first-century reception of the Gospel of Mark within a reconstructed (yet hypothetical) performance event. In particular, it considers the disciples' character and characterization through the lens of performance criticism. Questions concerning the characterization of the disciples have been relatively one-sided in New Testament scholarship, in favor of their negative characterization. This project demonstrates why such assumptions need not be necessary when we (re-)consider the oral/aural milieu in which the Gospel of Mark was first composed and received by its earliest audiences.

Not In The Script written by John McCallum and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09 with Monologues categories.

Here are thirty-two exciting monologues, drawn from the work of great storytellers, poets and novelists, from the classic to the contemporary. These pieces do not come from plays but each has a narrative and an action that makes it ideal for theatrical performance. In each case the speaker is a fascinating and engaging --or challenging--character and has a reason for telling the story that is theatrically compelling. Increasingly in recent years some of the most exciting performances have drawn on non-dramatic sources. Here are some suggestions.

The Palgrave Handbook Of Contemporary Irish Theatre And Performance written by Eamonn Jordan and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-18 with Performing Arts categories.

This Handbook offers a multiform sweep of theoretical, historical, practical and personal glimpses into a landscape roughly characterised as contemporary Irish theatre and performance. Bringing together a spectrum of voices and sensibilities in each of its four sections — Histories, Close-ups, Interfaces, and Reflections — it casts its gaze back across the past sixty years or so to recall, analyse, and assess the recent legacy of theatre and performance on this island. While offering information, overviews and reflections of current thought across its chapters, this book will serve most handily as food for thought and a springboard for curiosity. Offering something different in its mix of themes and perspectives, so that previously unexamined surfaces might come to light individually and in conjunction with other essays, it is a wide-ranging and indispensable resource in Irish theatre studies.
