Results of a search for new phenomena in events with an energetic photon and large missing transverse momentum with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are reported. Data were collected in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb-1. The observed data are well described by the expected Standard Model backgrounds. The expected (observed) upper limit on the fiducial cross section for the production of events with a photon and large missing transverse momentum is 6.1 (5.3) fb at 95% confidence level. The exclusion limits are presented on models of new phenomena with large extra spatial dimensions, super-symmetric quarks, and direct pair production of dark-matter candidates.

We present results from several new searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. We describe a search based on the scalar sum of the transverse energy of the event, a global quantity nearly independent of the event topology. We summarize our searches for first generation leptoquarks into all three decay channels, eq[ovr eq], eq[ovr[nu]q], and[nu]q[ovr[nu]q] and note that this is the first time that the triumvirate of decay channels has been searched. We do not find any evidence for production of first generation leptoquarks and set a lower limit on the mass of the leptoquark of 175 GeV/c[sup 2], assuming the decay is exclusively into eq[ovr eq]. We also present results from the first search for a third generation leptoquark with charge[+-]1/3. Again, we find no evidence for its existence for a mass less than 80 GeV/c[sup 2] Finally, we discuss one of our searches for supersymmetry, specifically the pair-production of[tilde e], [tilde[nu]], and[tilde[chi]][sup 0][sub 2] where the decay yields final states with two photons plus missing transverse energy (E[sub T]). We set limits on the production cross section ranging from 1 pb to 400 fb, depending on the mass. This analysis also sets a model-independent limit of[sigma][center-dot] B(pp -[gamma][gamma][vert-bar] E[sub T][vert-bar] X)185 fb at the 95% CL for E[sub T][sup ([gamma])] 12 GeV and[vert-bar][eta][vert-bar]1.1 T and E[sub T] 25 GeV.

We performed a search, using the full 20.3 fb1 data sample of 8 TeV proton-proton collisions collected in 2012 with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, for photons originating from a displaced vertex due to the decay of a neutral long-lived particle into a photon and an invisible particle. The analysis investigates the diphoton plus missing transverse momentum final state, and is therefore most sensitive to pair production of long-lived particles. The analysis technique exploits the capabilities of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter to make precise measurements of the flight direction, as well as the time of flight, of photons. No excess is observed over the Standard Model predictions for background. Lastly, exclusion limits are set within the context of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking models, with the lightest neutralino being the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle and decaying into a photon and gravitino with a lifetime in the range from 250 ps to about 100 ns.

We have searched for diphoton events ([gamma][gamma] /E[sub T]) with large missing transverse momentum, [gamma] /E[sub T] events ([gamma] /E[sub T]+[ge] 2 jets) with two or more jets, and diphoton events ([gamma][gamma]) with high transverse energies in p[anti p] collisions at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV using approximately 100 pb[sup -1] of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron in 1992-1996. No excess of events beyond the expected backgrounds is observed. The null results are interpreted in supersymmetric models with a dominant[tilde[xi]][sup 0][sub 2][yields][gamma][tilde[xi]][sup 0][sub 1] decay and in terms of Dirac pointlike monopole production.

A model-independent signature-based search for physics beyond the Standard Model is performed in the photon~+ jets~+ missing transverse energy channel in \ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV using the CDF II detector. Events with a photon + jets are predicted by the Standard Model and also by many theoretical models beyond the Standard Model. In the Standard Model, the main mechanisms for photon~+ jets production include quark-antiquark annihilation and quark-gluon scattering. No intrinsic missing transverse energy is present in any of these Standard Model processes. In this search, photon~+ $\geq$1 jet and photon~+ $\geq$2 jet events are analyzed with and without a minimum requirement on the missing transverse energy. Numerous mass distributions and kinematic distributions are studied and no significant excess over the background prediction is found. All results indicate good agreement with expectations of the Standard Model.

We present the results of the searches for new phenomena in pp collisions at[radical]s=1.8 TeV with the CDF detector using the full data sample of 110 pb[sup -1] collected between 1992 and 1995. We have searched for new physics in events with two photons, testing some of the hypotheses proposed to explain the appearance of the CDF ee[gamma][gamma] E[sub T] event. New results on the search for a heavy neutral scalar object, charged Higgs bosons (H[sup[+-]]) and the scalar top quark are presented. Finally we summarize the CDF results on the search for third generation leptoquarks.

The authors present the results of searches for large extra dimensions in samples of events with large missing transverse energy E{sub T} and either a photon or a jet produced in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector. For? + E{sub T} and jet + E{sub T} candidate samples corresponding to 2.0 fb−1 and 1.1 fb−1 of integrated luminosity respectively, they observe good agreement with standard model expectations and obtain a combined lower limit on the fundamental parameter of the large extra dimensions model, M{sub D}, as a function of the number of extra dimensions in the model.
