A search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to W+W- in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is reported. The data are collected at the LHC with the CMS detector, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 inverse femtobarns. The W+W- candidates are selected in events with two charged leptons and large missing transverse energy. No significant excess of events above the standard model background expectations is observed, and upper limits on the Higgs boson production relative to the standard model Higgs expectation are derived. The standard model Higgs boson is excluded in the mass range 129-270 GeV at 95% confidence level.

Combined results are reported from searches for the standard model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV in five Higgs boson decay modes: gamma pair, b-quark pair, tau lepton pair, W pair, and Z pair. The explored Higgs boson mass range is 110-600 GeV. The analysed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 4.6-4.8 inverse femtobarns. The expected excluded mass range in the absence of the standard model Higgs boson is 118-543 GeV at 95% CL. The observed results exclude the standard model Higgs boson in the mass range 127-600 GeV at 95% CL, and in the mass range 129-525 GeV at 99% CL. An excess of events above the expected standard model background is observed at the low end of the explored mass range making the observed limits weaker than expected in the absence of a signal. The largest excess, with a local significance of 3.1 sigma, is observed for a Higgs boson mass hypothesis of 124 GeV. The global significance of observing an excess with a local significance greater than 3.1 sigma anywhere in the search range 110-600 (110-145) GeV is estimated to be 1.5 sigma (2.1 sigma). More data are required to ascertain the origin of this excess.

The searches for a Beyond Standard Model (BSM) heavy CP-odd Higgs boson A decaying to Zh in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDM), and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) neutral Higgs bosons H/A decaying to a tau pair are presented. The search for the heavy CP-odd Higgs boson, A, is conducted through the A -> Zh -> ll T[subscript]lep T[subscript]had decay channel using 20.3 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass of 8 TeV. The search for the neutral MSSM H/A decaying to a tau pair in the T[subscript]lep T[subscript]had b-veto final state is done using 3.2 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass of 13 TeV. The observed data agrees with the Standard Model background prediction, and upper limits are set on cross-section times branching ratio of neutral BSM Higgs bosons.

In this paper, a search for Higgs boson production in association with a pair of top quarks ($ t\overline{t} $H) is performed, where the Higgs boson decays to $ b\overline{b} $ , and both top quarks decay hadronically. The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb -1 of pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The search selects events with at least six energetic jets and uses a boosted decision tree algorithm to discriminate between signal and Standard Model background. The dominant multijet background is estimated using a dedicated data-driven technique. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, an upper limit of 6.4 (5.4) times the Standard Model cross section is observed (expected) at 95% confidence level. The best-fit value for the signal strength is [mu] = 1.6 ± 2.6 times the Standard Model expectation for mH = 125 GeV. Combining all $ t\overline{t}$H searches carried out by ATLAS at √s = 8 and 7 TeV, an observed (expected) upper limit of 3.1 (1.4) times the Standard Model expectation is obtained at 95% confidence level, with a signal strength [mu] = 1.7 ± 0.8.

A search for the Standard Model Higgs boson decaying to WW− is presented. Data is taken from pp collisions with center of mass energy sqrt(s) = 7 TeV at the LHC using the CMS detector over the course of 2011. The sum of the data collected amounts to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb−. Identification of WW− candidates is performed by searching for leptonic decays of both W bosons. The resulting signature is two oppositely charged leptons, electrons or muons, plus significant missing transverse energy in the final state. The other Standard Model processes which only serve as background to the Higgs boson search are removed via a series of selections aimed to reduce the backgrounds while keeping the highest possible signal-to-background ratio. The Higgs boson signal is identified over the non-resonant W+W− production by exploiting the spin correlation of the H [right arrow] WW decays. Details concerning the analysis selection criteria, the data-driven estimates of the major background processes and the systematic uncertainties of the analysis are all presented in detail. As no significant excess of events are observed above the Standard Model background estimates, upper limits are set on the Higgs boson production with respect to the Standard Model prediction. Exclusion of the Higgs boson is extended with respect to previous measurements to a range of 132-238 GeV with a 95% confidence level.

A search for the decay to a pair of new particles of either the 125 GeV Higgs boson (h) or a second charge parity (CP)-even Higgs boson (H) is presented. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb-1 of pp collisions at √s = 8 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2012. The search was done in the context of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model, in which the new particles are the lightest neutral pseudoscalar Higgs bosons (a). One of the two a bosons is required to decay to two muons while the other is required to decay to two ? leptons. No significant excess is observed above the expected backgrounds in the dimuon invariant mass range from 3.7 to 50 GeV. Upper limits are placed on the production of h → aa relative to the standard model gg → h production, assuming no coupling of the a boson to quarks. The most stringent limit is placed at 3.5% for ma = 3.75 GeV. Upper limits are also placed on the production cross section of H → aa from 2.33 to 0.72 pb, for fixed ma = 5 GeV with mH ranging from 100 to 500 GeV.

We present a search for the Standard Model Higgs boson decaying into a pair of photons produced in p$par{p}$ collisions with a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10 fb-1 collected by the CDF II detector. Higgs boson candidate events are identified by reconstructing two photons in either the central or plug regions of the detector. The acceptance for identifying photons is significantly increased by using a new algorithm designed to reconstruct photons in the central region that have converted to an electron-positron pair. In addition, a new neural network discriminant is employed to improve the identification of non-converting central photons. No evidence for the Higgs boson is observed in the data, and we set an upper limit on the cross section for Higgs boson production multiplied by the H → ?? branching ratio. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV/c 2 , we obtain an observed (expected) limit of 12.2 (10.8) times the Standard Model prediction at the 95% credibility level.

This research presents a search for Higgs bosons decaying to four leptons, either electrons or muons, via one or two light exotic gauge bosons Zd, H 2!ZZd 2!4l or H 2!ZdZd 2!4l. The search was performed using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 20 fb-1 at the center-of-mass energy of \(\sqrt{s} = 8\) TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The observed data are well described by the Standard Model prediction. Upper bounds on the branching ratio of H 2!ZZd 2!4l and on the kinetic mixing parameter between the Zd and the Standard Model hypercharge gauge boson are set in the range (1-9) × 10-5 and (4-17) × 10-2 respectively, at 95% confidence level assuming the Standard Model branching ratio of H 2!ZZ* 2!4l, for Zd masses between 15 and 55 GeV. Upper bounds on the effective mass mixing parameter between the Z and the Zd are also set using the branching ratio limits in the H 2!ZZd 2!4l search, and are in the range (1.5-8.7) × 10-4 for 15
