This novel is the compelling fictional story based on a compilation of the many legends of the beautiful, tantalizing, kind, and extraordinary woman who lived and performed in Park County, Colorado, specifically around the year of 1861. The now ghost town it is centered in was once very much the gun-toting, overwhelmingly exciting, overnight sensation of Buckskin Joe's, where a gold strike was discovered in 1859 by Joseph Higginbotham. While much is not known of the incredible woman that they named Silverheels after the dance slippers she then wore, she came to the town and immediately swept everyone off their feet with her great beauty, talent, and extreme generosity. Smallpox tragically hit the then booming area that she became famous in throughout that area and all of Colorado, plus several states around. Many, many fled the area in panic, fear, great hurry, and much distress. But Silverheels stayed on against much advice and at great and incredible personal risk to help and lovingly tend to those stricken with smallpox who could not or did not want to leave. Later, after being stricken with the pox herself in real life, she disappears and was never seen again. But the author has an idea of what happened to her and has created a novel about her based on legend and imagination that includes an incredible and haunting love story, mystery and murder, faith, and the compelling suffering, courage, and deep convictions of survival of those stricken with smallpox during that time and location.

In this, the second offering of The Son of a Son of the Thin Man series, Murder Along the Crooked Way starts in Detroit and travels throughout the Waweatunong, or Crooked Way of Michigan and Canadian waters. Waweatunong is a Native American term for the connected waterway that includes Lake Erie, the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, the St. Clair River, and Lake Huron. To look at it from outer space would certainly give the appearance of a crooked way. Nicholas Charles III, the once filthy-rich man, then poor man and currently attempting to get back to rich man status from California and Laura Stackhouse, his native-Detroiter fiancé and former hooker are finally engaged to married. The pending nuptials and recent changes in their living arrangements opened the door for our protagonists to spend more time together delving into the criminal element lurking in and around the Great Lakes. After a court battle to recover a portion of his inherited millions that was embezzled by his deceased accountant, Ferguson Malarkey, Nick and his bride-to-be make their first joint purchase. Of all the possibilities open to them, they bought a boat and sail directly into the path of abduction, drug trafficking, and murder on the high seas. In the midst of murder and mayhem, Doc went his way and the newlyweds went theirs. Doc inadvertently crosses paths with the just married, Mr. and Mrs. Charles and rekindles their earlier camaraderie in pursuit of the killer(s). The three sleuths and their crew blaze a trail through Michigan's water winter wonderland in an attempt to bring the murderers to justice. Returning crewmates from the Civil War era, Mackie and Cleophus get in on the action with their newly discovered hide and go seek type approach to their existence. From their ghostly past, the two former slaves returned to life in Murder by Proxy, one year earlier. Their adventures along the Crooked Way with their newly acquired post-Civil War shipmates give them an opportunity to fight crime when they are alive, then return to their ghostly state and do the same. As not-so-typical ghosts, they're able to see things as no one else can and go where no man has gone before. A renewed Native American connection with Laura's distant past adds to the Charles' cultural repertoire and provides a few curious twists and turns as well. Old friends reunite as allies in the fight against the sinister goings on throughout the Crooked Way. Who will be the hero? Who will betray the home team? Are Nick and Laura's newfound friends who they appear to be? What is the MacGuffin? Why the Great Lakes? Who did it? Only a read inside Murder Along the Crooked Way will satisfy your desire for the answers to this complex who done it.

A dynamic new fiction series from the author of The Wedding Dress Author Marian Wells has shown remarkable ability to both capture the hearts of readers and challenge them with a strong spiritual message. Colorado Gold begins a new historical fiction series, Treasure Quest, with an intriguing story set in the West when "gold fever" was at its height. Amy Randolph, a young lady from the east, has moved to a lonely Colorado mining town with her father, an itinerant evangelist. On the threshold of womanhood and having lost her mother as a child, Amy longs for an understanding mother-figure to guide her steps. But she feels more lost than ever being now separated from the familiar comforts of the East. The Christianity she had grown up with seems unreal in their new surroundings. Her strong desire to play the piano, even if it means learning from a dance hall girl, lures her into a double standard. Her confusion is multiplied when she and her friend Daniel are misjudged and find themselves in a compromised situation. Set against the rigors of life in the West, this story's message involves forgiveness and restoration of families--a marvelous redemptive theme.

The Lone Ranger has endured as an iconic figure in American popular culture, from his 1933 premier as a radio serial hero through a highly-rated television series (1949-1957) to a 2013 feature film. Created by script writer Fran Striker and radio station owner George W. Trendle, the character was meant to embody courage, fair play and honesty, and writers had to adhere to specific guidelines: "he never smokes ... he uses precise speech ... he never shoots to kill." The popularity of the Ranger and his companion Tonto inspired later crime fighting duos like Batman and Robin, and The Green Hornet and Kato. This book examines the franchise in detail, with summaries and production details of the original radio episodes.
