Tanaman kacang-kacangan termasuk dalam suku leguminosae, dengan ciri khas buah berbentuk polong serta biji berkeping dua, berakar tunggang atau serabut. Nutrisi dalam golongan makanan ini juga sangat bermanfaat bagi tubuh manusia. Namun sayangnya masyarakat pada umumnya belum menyadari sepenuhnya manfaat dari konsumsi tanaman kacang-kacangan. Kacang-kacangan dikenal sebagai sumber tanaman pendukung pangan, tersebar luas di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Buku ini disusun dengan tujuan dapat memberikan wawasan bagi para pembaca tentang sebaran keanekaragaman tanaman golongan Leguminosae yang ditemukan di beberapa wilayah di NTT. Cakupan dalam buku ini meliputi: inventarisasi jenis kacang-kacangan (Leguminosae) yang terdapat di Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan, inventarisasi jenis kacang-kacangan (Leguminosae) yang terdapat di Kabupaten Sabu Raijua, inventarisasi jenis kacang-kacangan (Leguminosae) yang terdapat di Kabupaten Rote Ndao, inventarisasi jenis kacang-kacangan (Leguminosae) yang terdapat di Kabupaten Sumba Timur. Dalam buku ini juga dijelaskan bahwa setiap jenis kacang memiliki biji yang bervariasi mulai dari warna, ukuran, dan tekstur biji. Diharapkan buku ini menjadi sumber referensi untuk memetakan daerah berpotensi sumber kacang-kacangan dalam upaya peningkatan produksi pangan serta pencegahan stunting.
