Joseph Bates 1850 memoir, "Second Advent Way Marks and High Heaps," was written to strengthen and encourage believers after the "Great Disappointment" of 1844. The title of Bates book was based on Jeremiah 31:21, where the God's followers are admonished to "set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps." This text, which is reminiscent of the crossing of the river Jordan, came to have special meaning to the Adventist pioneers in their struggle to tell the story of Jesus' soon coming while also developing a church organization. In this book, Bates goes over the doctrinal landmarks, or stones from the river Jordan, that formed the foundation of his faith in the soon coming of Jesus. Bates, a well-to-do former sea captain, sold his home in 1844 and traveled to Maryland to preach the news of the Second Advent to slaves and slave masters. Birthed with a compelling sense of urgency to tell the world the good news of a soon-coming Savior, the Second Advent movement was spread with a gritty determination and great personal sacrifice. In the words of Bates, "Who does not still remember how [the] message flew as it were upon the wings of the wind - men and women ... going with all the speed of locomotives, in steamboats, and rail cars, freighted with bundles of books and papers, wherever they went distributing them almost as profusely as the flying leaves of autumn." This book provides an important explanation of the Second Advent movement, and the scriptural foundation behind it.

In some parts of the world it seems the Seventh-day Adventist Church is in danger of settling down into a social club. That is, unless it remembers its mission. With growing secularization, disorientation, and institutionalism, how can the church maintain its identity? How is the church to function considering it was founded on the belief that time is short-yet time keeps going on?Not just for church administrators and academics-this is a call to duty to all church members, a call to become a church alive with passion and purpose. Let these pages reinvigorate you with fresh thoughts about the Adventist mission and how to accomplish it. Because the world doesn't need another social club. It needs to hear God's message.

The objective of “The Sacred Scriptures” by John Biermanski is to revoke all falsifications in today's Bibles known so far (in the Old and New Testament), and to restore the original state of the verses as far as possible. In the present work, you will find “The Acts of the Apostles” to “The Letter of Paul the Apostle to Philemon”, in which the verses are written in German and English, as well as an appendix with various elaborations and statements, etc. (see the table of contents). There is both a German and an English edition in which the attachments are available in the respective selected language. This is an English edition. The author was born in 1963 in North Rhine-Westphalia and completed a traineeship for wholesale and foreign trade in a pharmaceutical wholesale company. In the course of his professional development, he used to be a freelancer but was also officially employed; he has experienced a lot rises and falls throughout his life. While studying the Scriptures, he was led by the Spirit of the only God, the Almighty and the only Holy Father in heaven, whereas, by grace, he could recognize many things that are now presented as heresies to the world. In recent years he has been active in the proclamation of the Word of YAHWEH Elohim (G-d) in Europe, Canada, particularly in Brazil (South America), and has enlightened many people by his message, so that they get to know the true God, His holy name and His will and only obey Him (Exodus 20:2-11; Leviticus chapter 19 and 23 etc.) – and start to think about all this, i. e. “so that they finally decide themselves in favour of the living Elohim (G-d): YAHWEH, instead of against Him, and their names are not erased from the divine 'Book of Life' forever.”

In this lavishly illustrated book, David Morgan surveys the visual culture that shaped American Protestantism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries--a vast record of images in illustrated bibles, Christian almanacs, children's literature, popular religious books, charts, broadsides, Sunday school cards, illuminated devotional items, tracts, chromos, and engravings. His purpose is to explain the rise of these images, their appearance and subject matter, how they were understood by believers, the uses to which they were put, and what their relation was to technological innovations, commerce, and the cultural politics of Protestantism. His overarching argument is that the role of images in American Protestantism greatly expanded and developed during this period.

This study presents the first comprehensive analysis of Seventhday Adventist interchurch relations – a 20-million member body whose ecumenical stance has so far been underresearched. For the sake of interpreting denominational involvement and reservations in Adventism as well as beyond, the study develops a new academic approach to ecumenism based on Relational Models Theory, a comprehensive social science paradigm of interpreting human relationships. The resulting typology of ecumenical interactions and the historical case study of Adventism suggest that such a relational interpretation of ecumenical interaction sheds light on many of the unresolved issues in ecumenics – such as divergent concepts of unity, difficulties in recognition processes, and the permanence of denominationalism.

Since its organization in 1863 the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been counter cultural. In its Christian witness to modern society it has advocated keeping the seventh-day Sabbath, vegetarianism, abstinence from tobacco and alcohol and refusal of its members to bear arms. But the stance on the refusal to bear arms has seen a metamorphous in modern times. Today more Seventh-day Adventist young people have voluntarily joined the military than in any previous generation of the Church's history. This volume is a compliation of essays that were presented at a conference called to discuss the Adventist Church's position on concientious objection. The presenters considered the history of the Church's stand and the changing views. These discussions were not limited to American context but considered other countries including South Africa and Canada.

This work gives a detailed history and defense of the Advent Movement of the 1840's known as Millerism, the movement from which the Seventh-day Adventist denomination sprang. The book is based on original sources, William Miller's correspondence, contemporaneous books, pamphlets, journals, newspapers. The first half is devoted to the history of the movement, and the second half to an examination of charges made against the Advent believers, such as that they wore ascension robes, that the Millerite preaching filled the asylums, and so forth.
