Life happens—with all its questions, longings, challenges, and missteps; but even more importantly, with its constant search for wholeness and happiness. It is not concerned with canonical or theological debates, but with pastoral considerations. Here Comes Life! shows the reader how to live out the teachings of Pope Francis in real life.

Discourses Of The Self written by Robert Innes and has been published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Ego (Psychology) categories.

What is wholeness and how can one find it? Drawing on Charles Taylor's philosophy of personhood, this book suggests an answer and, in so doing, also provides a novel way of comparing the disciplines of theology and psychology. The book describes how the modern self has arisen historically through its relation to sources of value. Theology and psychology are presented as discourses which articulate these value-sources. Hence they offer complementary resources for conferring a unified sense of self. Key representatives of theology and psychology are considered, e. g. the Augustinian conviction that an individual can attain wholeness through being remade in the image of God, the Freudian struggle for limited self-mastery, the Jungian project of wholeness through individuation, and the humanistic aim of self-actualisation.

A Holistic Educator S Journey written by John P. Miller and has been published by IAP this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-01 with Education categories.

This memoir describes the journey of John (Jack) Miller. The book explores how his personal journey is related to the work he has done in holistic education, contemplative education, and spirituality in education. In holistic education the personal and professional are connected. Professor Miller’s journey includes events, books, teachers, and the many factors in his life that have contributed to his work, which includes more than 20 books and extensive travel around the world. An example of the relationship between the personal and the professional is that Jack began meditating in 1974 and this practice has provided the foundation for much of his teaching and writing. Professor Miller’s book, The Holistic Curriculum, first published in 1988 along with the publication of the Holistic Education Review have been seen as the beginning of holistic education as a field of study. Since his journey has been connected with so many other holistic educators, this book can serve as one perspective on how the field has unfolded over the past 35 years. Besides this historical perspective the book includes a chapter on his meditation practice as well his beliefs. There is also a chapter on his teaching and how he attempts to embody holistic education in his classroom. Praise for A Holistic Educator's Journey: "Rarely does a field-builder allow us the opportunity to journey into the life-long journey leading to the formation of the work. With bold transparency, Miller shares his enormously rich professional and personal journey of seven decades with an open hand. He shows us the terrane of his inner and outer life." Lisa Miller, Author The Spiritual Child Teachers College, Columbia University "Whether in the classroom, writing books, keynoting, or being a friend, Jack Miller’s life journey exemplifies his multi-dimensional embracing of “the way of nature” and accepting of the mysterious. Always acknowledging the Indigenous roots of holistic education, he managed to bring parts of the Indigenous worldview into schools in ways that accommodated all cultures. This book gives testimony to his great contribution to understanding why we must return to our interconnected way of being." Four Arrows, Author Sitting Bull’s Words for a World in Crises

Explores how women can heal deep emotional pain through a new therapeutic approach that combines mindfulness meditation with psychotherapy. • Includes 8 vivid stories of women overcoming great emotional pain and life obstacles through Mindfulness Psychotherapy. • Each story is followed by a discussion and a relevant mindfulness meditation. As a result of her years of working with women as a psychotherapist, Barbara Miller Fishman developed the discipline of Mindfulness Psychotherapy--a combination of mindfulness meditation and psychotherapy that, taken together, describe a path toward wholeness. Now she presents the integration of her life's work through the poignant stories of eight women--all faced with critical decisions and tough life circumstances--and how they used Mindfulness Psychotherapy to attain greater levels of peace and well-being. The author offers a radical shift in a woman's relationship to life. Readers will discover the importance of naming a life problem, accepting the "is-ness" of it, developing a matter-of-fact curiosity, and exploring the mind/body reactions that we call emotional pain. The path continues as the reader creates an observing self and discovers the deep compassion that ultimately heals. Once learned, these six awareness practices can be used to face difficult situations, discover self-acceptance, and release the love needed to reside fully in one's whole self.

"Readers will find abundant wisdom in this accessible guide."--Publishers Weekly In an era in which "resistance" has become tokenized, popular Indigenous author Kaitlin Curtice reclaims it as a basic human calling. Resistance is for every human who longs to see their neighbors' holistic flourishing. We each have a role to play in the world right where we are, and our everyday acts of resistance hold us all together. Curtice shows that we can learn to practice embodied ways of belonging and connection to ourselves and one another through everyday practices, such as getting more in touch with our bodies, resting, and remembering our ancestors. She explores four "realms of resistance"--the personal, the communal, the ancestral, and the integral--and shows how these realms overlap and why all are needed for our liberation. Readers will be empowered to seek wholeness in whatever spheres of influence they inhabit.

"Our souls strive toward union with the Divine. In our lives, we gravitate toward the inner peace that is the fruit of such union, and the power and prayer of living authentically." Elizabeth De Sa describes her own quest for a life of spiritual authenticity and inner peace in an essay that probes deeply into the lessons learned and the rewards reaped in such a search. In meditation practice she peels back the layers of pain arising from unhealed wounds and false expectations of herself, obstacles that stand in the way of full acceptance of self, others, and the Divine and finds her way forward into deeper understanding of the nature of inner peace, renewed intentions for her life, and a fresh appreciation for the testimonies of Friends. Discussion questions included. -- Back cover.
