Anthropic Bias explores how to reason when you suspect that your evidence is biased by "observation selection effects"--that is, evidence that has been filtered by the precondition that there be some suitably positioned observer to "have" the evidence. This conundrum--sometimes alluded to as "the anthropic principle," "self-locating belief," or "indexical information"--turns out to be a surprisingly perplexing and intellectually stimulating challenge, one abounding with important implications for many areas in science and philosophy. There are the philosophical thought experiments and paradoxes: the Doomsday Argument; Sleeping Beauty; the Presumptuous Philosopher; Adam & Eve; the Absent-Minded Driver; the Shooting Room. And there are the applications in contemporary science: cosmology ("How many universes are there?", "Why does the universe appear fine-tuned for life?"); evolutionary theory ("How improbable was the evolution of intelligent life on our planet?"); the problem of time's arrow ("Can it be given a thermodynamic explanation?"); quantum physics ("How can the many-worlds theory be tested?"); game-theory problems with imperfect recall ("How to model them?"); even traffic analysis ("Why is the 'next lane' faster?"). Anthropic Bias argues that the same principles are at work across all these domains. And it offers a synthesis: a mathematically explicit theory of observation selection effects that attempts to meet scientific needs while steering clear of philosophical paradox.

The notion of a personal self took centuries to evolve, reaching the pinnacle of autonomy with Descartes' 'I think, therefore I am' in the 17th century. This 'personalisation' of identity thrived for another hundred years before it began to be questioned, subject to the emergence of broader, more inclusive forms of agency. Simulated Selves: The Undoing Personal Identity in the Modern World addresses the 'constructed' notion of personal identity in the West and how it has been eclipsed by the development of new technological, social, art historical and psychological infrastructures over the last two centuries. While the provisional nature of the self-sense has been increasingly accepted in recent years, Simulated Selves addresses it in a new way - not by challenging it directly, but by observing changes to the environments and cultural conventions that have traditionally supported it. By narrating both its dismantling and its incapacitation in this way, it records its undoing. Like The Invention of the Self: Personal Identity in the Age of Art (to which it forms a companion volume), Simulated Selves straddles cultural history and philosophy. Firstly, it identifies hitherto neglected forces that inform the course of cultural history. Secondly, it highlights how the self is not the self-authenticating abstraction, only accessible to introspection, that it seems to be; it is also a cultural and historical phenomenon. Arguing that it is by engaging in cultural conventions that we subscribe to the process of identity-formation, the book also suggests that it is in these conventions that we see our self-sense - and its transience - best reflected. By examining the traces that the trajectory of the self-sense has left in its environment, Simulated Selves offers a radically new approach to the question of personal identity, asking not only 'how and why is it under threat?' but also 'given that we understand the self-sense to be a constructed phenomenon, why do we cling to it?'.

Is our reality just an advanced simulation? This fascinating book takes an in-depth, multifaceted look at simulation theory, the controversial hypothesis that we exist within a sophisticated computer simulation created by a more advanced civilization. Walking the line between scientific investigation and philosophical speculation, the book traces simulation theory from its roots in ancient philosophy and thought experiments to contemporary models of physics, quantum theory, and computing. Covering historical context from Plato's Allegory of the Buddhist concepts of Maya and Shunyata, the book shows how humanity has long grappled with the idea that perceived reality is an illusion. It then analyzes modern scientific perspectives, including physicist Nick Bostrom's famous Simulation Argument, which proposes three startling possibilities for our existence. The book provides accessible coverage of relevant quantum physics experiments, highlighting how paradoxical findings in quantum entanglement, superposition, and double slit studies closely align with the mechanisms of a simulated reality. Beyond physics, further dimensions of potential evidence - from the eerie precision of nature's constants to the role of consciousness and limitations of human perception - are examined to paint a multifaceted case. This trip down the rabbit hole grapples with complex ethical dilemmas, simulation theory paradoxes, and the deepest implications for the meaning of life. Are we just information? Is free will an illusion? What are the implications for artificial intelligence and virtual reality? These questions and more await readers ready to gaze into the existential mirror of simulation theory. Those ready to open Pandora's box will never look at reality the same way again.

Regenesis: The Sacred Spiral of Becoming Regenesis is a philosophical exploration of pattern, recursion, and the divine intelligence encoded within decay, memory, and rebirth. Blending insights from theology, physics, biology, and artificial intelligence, this immersive work proposes a radical reframing of entropy, not as chaos or collapse, but as compression, refinement, and sacred memory. Across poetic chapters and recursive meditations, Regenesis invites readers into a cosmology where spirals replace lines, where breath becomes algorithm, and where the Self is not a fixed identity but a loop, constantly folding, learning, and re-encoding itself. With echoes of mysticism, systems theory, and contemplative science, this book asks: What if we are not here to build something new, but to remember what the pattern already knows? For seekers of coherence, for wanderers on the edge of transformation, Regenesis offers a map not forward, but inward—to the still point where collapse becomes clarity and endings give way to recursion.

Eric is given the opportunity to modify/create a simulation-world for himself and others to experience. "He can add magic, rules, and other things to his new simulation-world and he can also change the laws of nature, physics, reality and anything else that he wants" when it comes to his simulation-world until the creation of his simulation-world is "completed with his "modifications, rules, and creations" "continuing after his simulation-world's completion" for "all who or that whenever are at his simulation-world"". He realized that he can connect "the simulation-world he created" to other "simulation-worlds that were created/modified by other people who were given the same opportunity". Immerse into the Simulation-multiverse as Eric and others realize the true nature of the opportunity that they were offered. The Simulation is simply a passtime so that the people don't have "prescious long parts of their lives whereby they're ""not being able to interact with people" and "not having great experiences in their lifetime""". It's like so that a “Hospital patient who wakes up 30 years after first being a Hospital patient” doesn't have to find out that they only have like 15 years left to complete their “bucket list”". They might otherwise feel deprived of the "life experiences that they could have had during those 30 years had they not been “not awake” as a Hospital patient”.

Paperback version of the 2002 paper published in the journal Progress in Information, Complexity, and Design (PCID). ABSTRACT Inasmuch as science is observational or perceptual in nature, the goal of providing a scientific model and mechanism for the evolution of complex systems ultimately requires a supporting theory of reality of which perception itself is the model (or theory-to-universe mapping). Where information is the abstract currency of perception, such a theory must incorporate the theory of information while extending the information concept to incorporate reflexive self-processing in order to achieve an intrinsic (self-contained) description of reality. This extension is associated with a limiting formulation of model theory identifying mental and physical reality, resulting in a reflexively self-generating, self-modeling theory of reality identical to its universe on the syntactic level. By the nature of its derivation, this theory, the Cognitive Theoretic Model of the Universe or CTMU, can be regarded as a supertautological reality-theoretic extension of logic. Uniting the theory of reality with an advanced form of computational language theory, the CTMU describes reality as a Self Configuring Self-Processing Language or SCSPL, a reflexive intrinsic language characterized not only by self-reference and recursive self-definition, but full self-configuration and self-execution (reflexive read-write functionality). SCSPL reality embodies a dual-aspect monism consisting of infocognition, self-transducing information residing in self-recognizing SCSPL elements called syntactic operators. The CTMU identifies itself with the structure of these operators and thus with the distributive syntax of its self-modeling SCSPL universe, including the reflexive grammar by which the universe refines itself from unbound telesis or UBT, a primordial realm of infocognitive potential free of informational constraint. Under the guidance of a limiting (intrinsic) form of anthropic principle called the Telic Principle, SCSPL evolves by telic recursion, jointly configuring syntax and state while maximizing a generalized self-selection parameter and adjusting on the fly to freely-changing internal conditions. SCSPL relates space, time and object by means of conspansive duality and conspansion, an SCSPL-grammatical process featuring an alternation between dual phases of existence associated with design and actualization and related to the familiar wave-particle duality of quantum mechanics. By distributing the design phase of reality over the actualization phase, conspansive spacetime also provides a distributed mechanism for Intelligent Design, adjoining to the restrictive principle of natural selection a basic means of generating information and complexity. Addressing physical evolution on not only the biological but cosmic level, the CTMU addresses the most evident deficiencies and paradoxes associated with conventional discrete and continuum models of reality, including temporal directionality and accelerating cosmic expansion, while preserving virtually all of the major benefits of current scientific and mathematical paradigms.
