Selflessness: The Forgotten Christian Virtue is the result of a life spent working and interacting with thousands of people over a forty-five-year career. My experiences blessed me with an understanding of the human tendency to be selfish as I witnessed the need for self-denial. This is not a theological book; rather, it demonstrates our need for the practical use of God's Word in our lives. Scripture is meant to be lived every day. We are most happy when we yield to our Savior by submitting to His will. My motivation is to show the incredible benefits of a practical application of God's Word. It is my sincere wish to benefit your life specifically. It is essential for Christians to live for Jesus. The selfless life will help you to bring people to Christ and understand it is God, not self, who is able to pilot our life. Finally, it is my goal to always apply God's Word in the way it was intended. This book has four objectives, to wit: - to demonstrate how detrimental the self-oriented way of life is to people, - to show the importance of selflessness in this life, - to emphasize the commandment and example of Christ to deny self, and - to disclose the remarkable benefits of a selfless way of life. My sincere hope is that you will eliminate selfishness from your life as you strive to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. -Joseph "Skip" Frazier

Love Kindness written by Barry H. Corey and has been published by NavPress this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-05 with Religion categories.
Kindness is not what we have been taught it is. It isn’t a soft virtue, expressed only by sweet grandmothers or nice Boy Scouts. Kindness is neither timid nor frail. Instead, it is brave and daring, willing to be vulnerable with those with whom we disagree. It is the revolutionary way that Jesus himself called us to live. The way of selfless risks. The way of staggering hope. The way of authenticity. Dr. Barry Corey, president of Biola University, believes we tend to devalue the importance of kindness, opting instead for caustic expressions of certainty that push people away. We forget that the essence of what God requires of us is to “love kindness.” In this book, filled with stories from his travels around the globe, Barry shows us the forgotten way of kindness. It is a life that calls us to put ourselves at risk. A life that calls us to hope. A life of a firm center and soft edges. It is the life Christ invites us to follow, no matter what the cost. This new paperback edition has an added chapter and a foreword from Steven Curtis Chapman.

Shakespeare S Forgotten Allegory written by Julian Real and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-22 with Drama categories.
Shakespeare’s Forgotten Allegory posits three startling points: that we have today forgotten a cultural icon that helped to bring about the Renaissance; that this character, used to distil classical wisdom regarding how to raise children to become moral adults, consistently appeared in plays performed between 1350 and 1650; and that the character was often utilised by the likes of Shakespeare and Ben Jonson, and therefore adds a long-forgotten allegorical narrative to their works. This evidence-based reappraisal of some of the most iconic works in Western literature suggests that a core element of their content has been ‘lost’ for centuries. This text will appeal to anyone with an interest in late medieval and early modern drama, especially the works of Shakespeare; to those interested in the history of teaching and child-rearing; to anyone curious about the practical application of philosophy in society; to anyone that would like to know more about the crucial and defining period today known as the Renaissance, and how and why society was redesigned by those with influence; and to all those who would like to know more about how history, which though sometimes misplaced, continues to influenced our modern world.

How could the Protestant Reformation take off from Wittenberg, a tiny town in Saxony, which contemporaries regarded as a mud hole? And how could a man of humble origins, deeply scared by the devil, become a charismatic leader and convince others that the Pope was the living Antichrist? Martin Luther founded a religion which to this day determines many people's lives, as did Jean Calvin in Geneva one generation later. In this new edition of her best selling textbook, Ulinka Rublack addresses these two tantalising questions. Including evidence from the period's rich material culture, alongside a wealth of illustrations, this is the first textbook to use the approaches of the new cultural history to analyse how Reformation Europe came about. Updated for the anniversary of the circulation of Luther's ninety-five theses, Reformation Europe has been restructured for ease of teaching, and now contains additional references to 'radical' strands of Protestantism.
