Finite Fields And Their Applications written by Pascale Charpin and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-28 with Mathematics categories.
This book is based on the invited talks of the "RICAM-Workshop on Finite Fields and Their Applications: Character Sums and Polynomials" held at the Federal Institute for Adult Education (BIfEB) in Strobl, Austria, from September 2-7, 2012. Finite fields play important roles in many application areas such as coding theory, cryptography, Monte Carlo and quasi-Monte Carlo methods, pseudorandom number generation, quantum computing, and wireless communication. In this book we will focus on sequences, character sums, and polynomials over finite fields in view of the above mentioned application areas: Chapters 1 and 2 deal with sequences mainly constructed via characters and analyzed using bounds on character sums. Chapters 3, 5, and 6 deal with polynomials over finite fields. Chapters 4 and 9 consider problems related to coding theory studied via finite geometry and additive combinatorics, respectively. Chapter 7 deals with quasirandom points in view of applications to numerical integration using quasi-Monte Carlo methods and simulation. Chapter 8 studies aspects of iterations of rational functions from which pseudorandom numbers for Monte Carlo methods can be derived. The goal of this book is giving an overview of several recent research directions as well as stimulating research in sequences and polynomials under the unified framework of character theory.

Random Number Generators For Computer Simulation And Cyber Security written by Lih-Yuan Deng and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-07 with Mathematics categories.
This book discusses the theory and practice of random number generators that are useful for computer simulation and computer security applications. Random numbers are ubiquitous in computation. They are used in randomized algorithms to perform sampling or choose randomly initialized parameters or perform Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). They are also used in computer security applications for various purposes such as cryptographic nuances or in authenticators. In practice, the random numbers used by any of these applications are from a pseudo-random sequence. These pseudo-random sequences are generated by RNGs (random number generators). This book discusses the theory underlying such RNGs, which are used by all programmers. However, few try to understand the theory behind them. This topic is an active area of research, particularly when the generators are used for cryptographic applications. The authors introduce readers to RNGs, how they are judged for quality, the mathematical and statistical theory behind them, as well as provide details on how these can be implemented in any programming language. The book discusses non-linear transformations that use classical linear generators for cryptographic applications and how to optimize to make such generators more efficient. In addition, the book provides up-to-date research on RNGs including a modern class of efficient RNGs and shows how to search for new RNGs with good quality and how to parallelize these RNGs.

Codes From Difference Sets written by Cunsheng Ding and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-08-08 with Mathematics categories.
This is the first monograph on codebooks and linear codes from difference sets and almost difference sets. It aims at providing a survey of constructions of difference sets and almost difference sets as well as an in-depth treatment of codebooks and linear codes from difference sets and almost difference sets. To be self-contained, this monograph covers necessary mathematical foundations and the basics of coding theory. It also contains tables of best BCH codes and best cyclic codes over GF(2) and GF(3) up to length 125 and 79, respectively. This repository of tables can be used to benchmark newly constructed cyclic codes. This monograph is intended to be a reference for postgraduates and researchers who work on combinatorics, or coding theory, or digital communications.

Cryptography With Shrinking Generators written by Sara Díaz Cardell and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-02 with Mathematics categories.
This book offers a broad survey of all information made public - from 1993 until today - on keystream sequence generators based on irregular decimation, which are referred to as shrinking generators. Starting with an overview of cryptography, it describes each type of generator - shrinking, self-shrinking, modified self-shrinking, generalized self-shrinking and the DECIM algorithm - with examples and references. Further, the book discusses several attacks on these generators and applications. It concludes by demonstrating how the output sequences can be modeled by means of different families of one-dimensional cellular automata, rendering the generators vulnerable to attacks. Intended for researchers and graduate students, the book will hopefully inspire them to search for more details on this family of generators and to address the open problems in this field.
