Ziel war es, Serious Games nach ihren Merkmalen zu klassifizieren, insbesondere nach ihren Anwendungsbereichen und Komponenten und die Taxonomie hinsichtlich ihrer Gültigkeit und Nützlichkeit zu evaluieren. Die Arbeit enthält eine detaillierte Beschreibung des Forschungsprozesses einschließlich der Literaturrecherche, der Entwicklung der Taxonomie und der Evaluierung mit Hilfe von Forschungsmethoden. Zu den Ergebnissen der Studie gehören die Identifizierung von Meta-Charakteristika, objektiven und subjektiven Endbedingungen und der iterative Prozess, der zur Entwicklung der Taxonomie verwendet wurde. Die Taxonomie wurde mit zwei verschiedenen Methoden evaluiert und für gültig und nützlich befunden. Die Arbeit schließt mit einer Diskussion der Ergebnisse und Vorschlägen für zukünftige Forschung ab.
