Serious Roommate Problems is the story of a man’s desperate attempt to save his marriage by writing the story telling his wife how he first met and fell in love with her. Pete Dominico’s narrative set in Brooklyn in the early 1990’s offers a dive into the complex urban social issues young people face every day. It follows Pete Dominico’s journey moving into the black neighborhood of Fort Greene a couple of years after being mugged and stabbed by an African American crack addict in New Jersey. The story follows how Pete meets and falls in love with Holly while he is caught in the middle of a dispute between his two Jamaican roommates that gets crazier and more complicated every day. The story highlights how relationships blossom with the excitement of attraction and personal chemistry and illuminates the breakdown of relationships because of men and women’s wildly dissimilar perspectives on love and commitment both when they are single and when they are married. This is the first novel of a two-part series with the second part of Serious Roommate Problems following the relationship when they move to Portland Oregon and Pete must adjust to life with Holly’s colorful western family.

To Moira “Mo” Rossi, the world is full of sunshine, goodness, and happily ever afters—so of course she figures finding the perfect roomie will be easy. But after four creepos who ask if benefits come with the room and one woman who claims she’s a vampire, Mo is officially desperate. So what if the guy she agrees to on paper ends up being the Derrick Downer to her Sally Sunshine in person? She’s the queen of making lemonade. August Porter expected his new roommate Mo to be like him—neat, practical, and oh yeah: male. Not the outrageous hippie with more stars in her eyes than there are in the sky. She’s infuriating, exasperating, his exact opposite in every possible way...and the bright ray of sunshine he didn’t even realize his gray world was missing. Suddenly, falling into bed with his roommate isn’t the worst idea he’s ever heard. Just falling in love with her is. But one of them is keeping a secret that could turn their opposite attraction into utter disaster.

A veteran college dean gives parents of college students all the practical guidance they'll need to navigate the labyrinth of bureaucracies and policies in order to support their student's academic career and extracurricular life. Most books for college parents dwell on the emotional and psychological challenges when their son or daughter "cuts loose" into the quasi-dependent, quasi-adult limbo of college. Here at last is an expert nuts-and-bolts guide showing parents how to work collaboratively with their children to navigate the college bureaucracy—a labyrinth that at times seems perversely designed to frustrate parents at every turn, even on such basic matters as tuition and fees, grades, and disciplinary, legal, and medical problems. Drawing on her 20 years of experience as a student affairs dean at a top-ranked national university, Helen Akinc teaches college parents everything they need to know about policies and practices today in college administration, instruction, and student services. The practical advice gathered in this handbook will empower college parents to extract enough information from the system to support, guide, and monitor the academic career and general well-being of their college student—both on campus and off, in both routine and special situations.
