Selain itu, amalan baik sistem penyampaian pendidik jarak jauh membolehkan mereka mendidik pelajar jarak jauh mengikuti pengajian dengan selesa dan yang diharapkan, serta luwes dalam pengendaliannya sebagai pemudah cara yang baik dan disukai oleh pelajar. Buku ini ditulis sebagai panduan kepada mereka yang baru terlibat dengan PTJJ, khasnya untuk pelajar (dan calon pelajar); pendidik jarak jauh, iaitu pengurus kursus/pengajar; dan pengurus/pentadbir IPT. Rarely do authors discuss in detail issues related to the financial framework of higher education. In the context of Malaysia, the country’s leadership has put in place mechanisms to transform higher education. Commencing 2004, the government has transformed higher education through the establishment of the Ministry of Higher Education. Accordingly, the National Higher Education Strategic Plan was drafted to elevate the status and prestige of local universities internationally. To catapult the status of local universities, the government has allocated huge sums of money to defray the cost of higher education encompassing physical funding, resource management, academic activities, and student welfare. Relatively speaking, tuition costs for the sciences, technological and medical programmes far exceed those for the social sciences. Aside from assistance in the payment of tuition fees, the Ministry of Higher Education together with various agencies also provide other assistance in the form of scholarships, bursaries and loans to students. Thus, it is timely that this book puts forward a discussion on financial stability in higher education in Malaysia. There are more young people in the world today than ever before. Yet surprisingly little is known about the current state of affairs in youth development. Measuring the well-being of young people continues to be a challenge, even though its importance is widely recognised. The Commonwealth's youth flagship report, the Global Youth Development Index and Report, provides an evidence-based overview of the state of development for the nearly 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 30 in the world. The Youth Development Index (YDI) is a composite index of 18 indicators that collectively measure progress on youth development in 183 countries, including 49 of the 53 Commonwealth countries. The YDI has five domains, measuring levels of education, health and well-being, employment and opportunity, political participation and civic participation among young people.
