Destiny lies along an uncharted course… Commission Captain and special operative Sevan Vasil has enough problems without the strange dreams that seem to be his mind’s version of a cruel joke. No woman could be that perfect…except perhaps his fated mate. No human or alien alive would dare answer a lion-shifter’s call. Not with the state of unrest and anti-supernatural movement in the universe. When the raven-haired beauty who invaded his dreams appears on his communication screen, he knows everything is changing, and maybe destiny is on his side. And just maybe, she is his mate. He just needs to find a way to keep her safe on her own planet before he can keep her for eternity.

Biodiversity Of Armenia written by George Fayvush and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-08 with Science categories.

Armenia is a small landlocked mountainous country located in the Southern Caucasus. It is a typical mountainous country, having its lowest point of 375m above sea level and culminating at 4095m with an average altitude of 1850m, where the landscapes and ecosystems form a complex multi-functional system. In general, the ecosystems of Armenia are characterized by a number of peculiarities, which all together contribute to formation of rich and unique biodiversity. On the small territory of Armenia (less than 30 thousand km2) there are about 3800 species of vascular plants (about a half of the whole Caucasian flora), 428 species of soil and water algae, 399 species of mosses, 4207 species of fungi, 464 species of lichens, 549 species of vertebrates and about 17200 species of invertebrates. The biodiversity of Armenia is notable for high endemism: about 500 species of fauna (about 3% of the fauna) and 147 species of flora (3.8% of total flora) are considered endemics. Such a high level of endemism is typical only for some of the large islands. Due to the huge variety of climates (from dry subtropics to cold alpine) and soil conditions all the main Caucasian ecosystems (besides humid subtropics) are represented in Armenia – deserts and semi-deserts, steppes, meadow-steppes, forests and open woodlands, sub-alpine and alpine vegetation as well as intrazonal ecosystems. Therefore Armenia is a biodiversity hotspot both within the Caucasian ecoregion and around the globe. This book compiles, summarizes and analyzes data on flora, fauna and mycobiota of Armenia, with a special focus on the impact of forecasted climate change on biodiversity and ecosystems of the region.

Tectonic Evolution Collision And Seismicity Of Southwest Asia written by Rasoul Sorkhabi and has been published by Geological Society of America this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-21 with Geology categories.

Southwest Asia is one of the most remarkable regions on Earth in terms of active faulting and folding, large-magnitude earthquakes, volcanic landscapes, petroliferous foreland basins, historical civilizations as well as geologic outcrops that display the protracted and complex 540 m.y. stratigraphic record of Earth's Phanerozoic Era. Emerged from the birth and demise of the Paleo-Tethys and Neo-Tethys oceans, southwest Asia is currently the locus of ongoing tectonic collision between the Eurasia-Arabia continental plates. The region is characterized by the high plateaus of Iran and Anatolia fringed by the lofty ranges of Zagros, Alborz, Caucasus, Taurus, and Pontic mountains; the region also includes the strategic marine domains of the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Caspian, and Mediterranean. This 19-chapter volume, published in honor of Manuel Berberian, a preeminent geologist from the region, brings together a wealth of new data, analyses, and frontier research on the geologic evolution, collisional tectonics, active deformation, and historical and modern seismicity of key areas in southwest Asia.

Thought provoking treatise that aims to answer questions about Earth’s environment based on research done through remote sensing techniques In Extraterrestrial Remote Sensing and Climate Change, the author addresses longstanding questions about a possible correlation between fluctuations in solar activity and changes in the Earth’s atmosphere and geosphere that have been observed during periods of extraterrestrial changes such as solar eclipses or solar storms. The author goes on to suggest possible mechanisms for anomalies seen in climate change and other environmental effects through a deep examination of interdisciplinary research. Core topics covered in the work include: Data from ground- based detectors and from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) satellite, which monitor solar activity Key variables associated with sunspot eruption, such as Electron flux, Proton flux, X-ray flux, and Planetary indices Observable changes in other planets and their moons, as well as in cosmic radiation from beyond the sun Extraterrestrial effects on the Earth’s magnetic field and on seismic activity With its fresh and multidisciplinary approach, Extraterrestrial Remote Sensing and Climate Change is a thought-provoking treatise for students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of environmental science and climate science.

The International Symposium on Trophic Relationships in Inland Waters, held from 1st-4th September 1987, at the Balaton Limnological Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Tihany (Hungary), was intended to give an insight into current research on limnology of inland waters. The meeting was organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Institute in order to promote the exchange of ideas and discussion of new results. Papers presented during the Symposium dealt with four main topics: (1) Interactions of inorganic nutrients, primary producers and bacteria, (2) Interactions between primary and secondary producers, (3) Trophic relationships between plankton and fish, (4) Studies on complex trophic systems. Participants from 18 countries presented 40 oral lectures and 15 posters, that reviewed the structure and functioning of inland water ecosystems from different aspects. Since in such functioning nutrients are main forcing factors, the pathways of nutrients., as well as trophic connections, are widely studied nowadays. The IX papers of these proceedings thus present a series of different approaches to the main results of current limnological research in this very important field. The structure of these proceedings was somewhat altered when papers were ranked into three main groups: (1) Long-term changes, (2) Annual and seasonal cycles and (3) Short-term changes and pilot scale operations. The sequence of papers within these groups follows the four main subjects discussed during the Symposium.

The international journal Ecohydrology & Hydrobiology (E&H) has been created to promote the concept of Ecohydrology, which is defined as the study of the functional interrelations between hydrology and biota at the catchment scale. Ecohydrology extends from the molecular level to catchment-scale processes and is based on three principles: • framework (hydrological principle) - quantification and integration of hydrological and ecological processes at a basin scale; • target (ecological principle) - necessity of enhancing ecosystem absorbing capacity and ecosystem services; and • management tool (ecological engineering) – the use of ecosystem properties for regulation the interplay between hydrology and biota. The journal encourages the submission of manuscripts which adopt an integrative approach to aquatic sciences, explaining ecological and hydrological processes at a river-basin scale or propose practical applications of this knowledge. It will also consider papers in other hydrobiological fields. Especially welcome are papers on regulatory mechanism within biocenosis and the resistance and resilience of freshwater and costal zones ecosystems. There is no page charge for published papers. All submitted papers, written exclusively in English, should be original works, unpublished and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers are peer-reviewed. The following types of papers are considered for publication in E&H: • original research papers • invited or submitted review papers, • short communications

Despite its good intentions, mismanagement and corruption plagued the UN's Oil-for-Food Program: More than 2,200 companies paid 1.8 billion in illegal surcharges and kickbacks to the Iraqi regime The UN Security Council stood by as the Iraqi regime outright smuggled about 8.4 billion of oil during the Program years in violation of UN sanctions The Iraqi regime steered oil contracts for political advantage by giving rights to buy oil to dozens of global political figures sympathetic to Iraq's goal to loosen or overturn the UN sanctions The Iraqi regime provided Benon Sevan, the UN's chief administrator of the Program, with rights to buy more than 7 million barrels of oil UN-related humanitarian agencies collected tens of millions of dollars for costs they never incurred, and some built factories in Iraq that weren't needed or that never worked at all. Even UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan was tainted by it But the whole story has never been told in one place.

Fossil fuel prices continue to rise and, at the same time, environmental policies are demanding a reduction in greenhouse gases and toxic emissions. A coherent energy strategy is needed: one that addresses both energy supply and demand and takes into account the whole energy lifecycle, from fuel production to the end-users of energy systems. This book examines hydrogen energy technologies and infrastructure development.
