Shadows Mirrors Pearls written by Leslie Johnson and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-05 with Poetry categories.

Leslie Johnson traveled far away from her urban roots for more than twenty years and this period is re-visited in this collection derived from her day-dreams and aspirations that never surrendered to the distractions imposed by the stresses and imperfections of a hurried existence. These highly personal and secret realms reveal sensitivity, spirituality and personal triumph often undocumented during an unpredictable and sometimes perilous journey spanning two decades. Her writing is a self-conscious and imaginative response to changing landscapes that are often powerful and impossible.

In Search Of Dustie Fute written by David Kinloch and has been published by Carcanet Press Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-15 with Poetry categories.

Who is Dustie-Fute? A vagrant, a hawker, a poet. A dusty-footed Scottish Orpheus. A stranger, a migrant, a ghost. In his search for Dustie-Fute, David Kinloch begins amid the Parisian floods of 1910: with the waters rising, a lonely giraffe speaks from the abandoned zoo, witness to what seems the end of the world. Other animals chime in, Dustie-Futes all, a hooved and humped chorus of watery sages. Elsewhere, two young college dudes quote Rilke at each other. Cain's wife, the Virgin Mary and that eternal stepdad St Joseph draw on memories they didn't know they had. In a series of feminist monologues, feisty biblical women seek revenge on their husbands and oppressors, before Dustie-Fute's final incarnation as a Cavafy-reading Syrian refugee. Who is Dustie-Fute? Many are, and many have been. A fellowship of strangers across time: free spirits, survivors. Kinloch's bestiary of forgotten voices spans apocalypse and salvage, elegy and humour. Mythic and erotic, his poems engage ecological disaster, LBGT art and politics, and that great resistance movement, love.

But when she wakes up in a strange bed with a strange man who claims to be her husband, she knows something drastic has changed. It turns out that Lee—Leslee’s alter ego—has been in control for ten years. During that time, she married and had two children, only to have her escapades terrify the kids and alienate her husband, Kevin. The Aesthetics Of Shadow written by Daisuke Miyao and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-04 with Performing Arts categories.

In this revealing study, Daisuke Miyao explores "the aesthetics of shadow" in Japanese cinema in the first half of the twentieth century. This term, coined by the production designer Yoshino Nobutaka, refers to the perception that shadows add depth and mystery. Miyao analyzes how this notion became naturalized as the representation of beauty in Japanese films, situating Japanese cinema within transnational film history. He examines the significant roles lighting played in distinguishing the styles of Japanese film from American and European film and the ways that lighting facilitated the formulation of a coherent new Japanese cultural tradition. Miyao discusses the influences of Hollywood and German cinema alongside Japanese Kabuki theater lighting traditions and the emergence of neon commercial lighting during this period. He argues that lighting technology in cinema had been structured by the conflicts of modernity in Japan, including capitalist transitions in the film industry, the articulation of Japanese cultural and national identity, and increased subjectivity for individuals. By focusing on the understudied element of film lighting and treating cinematographers and lighting designers as essential collaborators in moviemaking, Miyao offers a rereading of Japanese film history.
