Skydiving is an apt metaphor for going to college. In Preparing Your Faith for College, readers work through the process of preparation for the leap into the great unknown as it applies to one's faith. The authors, both experienced youth ministers familiar with the needs and challenges facing high school and college students, present practical concerns and suggestions related to the role of faith in making the transition from high school to college. Using a step-by-step approach based on preparations for making a jump from an airplane, Preparing Your Faith for College helps the student to prepare carefully for the adventure of going to college, including developing and nurturing one's faith. Each chapter contains a Scripture verse, reflection about college life and faith, reflection questions, space for students to record their thoughts and feelings, and action steps that give students concrete ways to work toward successful faith transition. Edgy chapter titles ("Choose Your Landing Site: Target--College" and "Pull the Ripcord: Your Faith" are two examples) introduce topics such as choosing a school, dealing with anxiety, making college connections even before arriving on campus, and making the Catholic faith one's own, not just your parents' faith. How do we contribute to the decolonisation of Palestine? In what ways can we divest from settler arrangements in the present-day? Exploring the Zionist takeover of Palestine as a settler colonial case, this book argues that in studying the elimination of native life in Palestine, the loss of Arab-Jewish shared life cannot be ignored. Muslims, Christians, and Jews, shared a life in Ottoman Palestine and in a different way during British rule. The attempt to eliminate native life involved the destruction of Arab society – its cultural hegemony and demographic superiority – but also the racial rejection of Arab-Jewish sociabilities, of shared life. Thus the settlerist process of dispossession of the Arabs was complemented with the destruction of the social and cultural infrastructure that made Arab-Jewish life a historical reality. Both operations formed Israeli polity. Can this understanding contribute to present-day Palestinian resistance and a politics of decolonisation? In this book, the authors address this question by exploring how the study of elimination of shared life can inform Arab-Jewish co-resistance as a way of defying Israel’s Zionist regime. Above and beyond opposing an unacceptable state of affairs, this book engages with past and present to discuss possible futures.

Handbook Of Adolescent Behavioral Problems written by Thomas P. Gullotta and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-14 with Psychology categories.
The Second Edition of the Handbook of Adolescent Behavioral Problems clarifies the current state of treatment and prevention through comprehensive examinations of mental disorders and dysfunctional behaviors as well as the varied forces affecting their development. New or revised chapters offer a basic framework for approaching mental health concerns in youth and provide the latest information on how conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder, suicidality, and OCD) and behaviors (e.g., sex offenses, gang activities, dating violence, and self-harm) manifest in adolescents. Each chapter offers diagnostic guidance, up-to-date findings on prevalence, biological/genetic aspects, risk and resilience factors, and a practical review of prevention and treatment methods. Best-practice recommendations clearly differentiate among what works, what might work, what doesn't work, and what needs further research across modalities, including pharmacotherapy. Key topics addressed include: Families and adolescent development. Adolescent mental health and the DSM-5. Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder. Autism spectrum disorder. Media and technology addiction. School failure versus school success. Bullying and cyberbullying. The Second Edition of the Handbook of Adolescent Behavior Problems is a must-have reference for researchers, clinicians, allied practitioners and professionals, and graduate students in school and clinical child psychology, education, pediatrics, psychiatry, social work, school counseling, and public health.
