In the wake of September 11th. Muslim women in the West found themselves more marginalized than ever by a panicked discourse that did little to promote a true understanding of Islam or the Islamic world. Here. in this ambitious volume that includes essays. poetry, fiction, memoir, plays, and artwork, Muslim women speak for themselves, revealing a complexity of experience and thought that escapes most Western portrayals. Islam is, as editor Fawzia Afzal-Khan puts it only "one spoke in the wheel of our lives." In Shattering the Stereotypes. essays by such writers as Ayesha Jalal, the Pakistani-American historian, poems by award-winning poets including Sucheir Hammad and Nathalie Handal, and a selection of short fiction and plays that are not just ethnically but attitudinally diverse, together make a more rounded portrait of what it is to be a Muslim woman in the 21st century.

Black Women Shattering Stereotypes: A Streaming Revolution focuses on the work, voices, and perspectives of Black women in popular film and television. Kay Siebler argues that within the past five years, in response to the digital age and the number of racist stereotypes being purported in dominant culture, Black women creators are making entertainment media that fights back against these racist and sexist narratives and celebrates the realities of being Black and being a woman in today’s world. When Black women are behind the camera, writing, directing, and producing, Siebler finds, the representations of Black women change dramatically in empowering and important ways. Focusing on films and series produced since 2015 that are made by, for, and about Black women, Siebler analyzes the portrayals of Black women and their culture in Bessie, Self Made, Hidden Figures, Harriet, Insecure, Being Mary Jane, Twenties, and Chewing Gum, among others. Siebler intertwines these analyses with in-depth interviews with over one hundred Black women throughout the book, offering a variety of perspectives across the broad spectrum of demographics that are—and are not—being represented in mainstream media.

The whole world is facing gender inequality issues, and this could only be eradicated by generating awareness amongst those stereotype mindsets. Keeping in view of achieving Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nation, I thought to write a book consisting of global gender inequality issues and an encouraging story for girls who face more difficulties in achieving their goals.

This is a history and an evaluation of a brave attempt to use children's television as a means of breaking down sexual and racial stereotypes. The authors, the official historian and the outside evaluator for the project, describe its evolution and the creative difficulties of reconciling the programme's twin purposes of entertainment and instruction. Did it work? Although the show had strong audience appeal, it did not run long enough, but did succeed in altering sex sterotypes when used in classroom discussion. What do these findings mean? (Education) The authors provide an in depth analysis of the award winning educational television -- 'Freestyle' -- designed to break down traditional stereotyping patterns in children.
