Short Route to Chaos develops a series of specific suggestions for reform based on the principle that education, like religion, is a matter of conscience in which families should be free to select their children's schools and public funding should be allocated equally for each child, regardless of wealth or geographic location. The author goes on to propose public debate about a possible education amendment to the U.S. Constitution. His book is an impassioned call for a pragmatic and populist re-constitution of American schooling - one that respects conscience, supports community, and reinvigorates the principles of constitutional democracy.

Nonlinear Pdes A Dynamical Systems Approach written by Guido Schneider and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-26 with Differential equations, Nonlinear categories.

This is an introductory textbook about nonlinear dynamics of PDEs, with a focus on problems over unbounded domains and modulation equations. The presentation is example-oriented, and new mathematical tools are developed step by step, giving insight into some important classes of nonlinear PDEs and nonlinear dynamics phenomena which may occur in PDEs. The book consists of four parts. Parts I and II are introductions to finite- and infinite-dimensional dynamics defined by ODEs and by PDEs over bounded domains, respectively, including the basics of bifurcation and attractor theory. Part III introduces PDEs on the real line, including the Korteweg-de Vries equation, the Nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the Ginzburg-Landau equation. These examples often occur as simplest possible models, namely as amplitude or modulation equations, for some real world phenomena such as nonlinear waves and pattern formation. Part IV explores in more detail the connections between such complicated physical systems and the reduced models. For many models, a mathematically rigorous justification by approximation results is given. The parts of the book are kept as self-contained as possible. The book is suitable for self-study, and there are various possibilities to build one- or two-semester courses from the book.

Attitude dynamics is the theoretical basis of attitude control of spacecrafts in aerospace engineering. With the development of nonlinear dynamics, chaos in spacecraft attitude dynamics has drawn great attention since the 1990's. The problem of the predictability and controllability of the chaotic attitude motion of a spacecraft has a practical significance in astronautic science. This book aims to summarize basic concepts, main approaches, and recent progress in this area. It focuses on the research work of the author and other Chinese scientists in this field, providing new methods and viewpoints in the investigation of spacecraft attitude motion, as well as new mathematical models, with definite engineering backgrounds, for further analysis. Professor Yanzhu Liu was the Director of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. Dr. Liqun Chen is a Professor at the Department of Mechanics, Shanghai University, China.

The basic procedures for designing and analysing electronic systems are based largely on the assumptions of linear behavior of the system. Nonlinearities inherent in all real applications very often cause unexpected and even strange behavior. This book presents an electronic engineer's perspective on chaos and complex behavior. It starts from basic mathematical notions which enable understanding of the observed phenomena, and guides the reader through the methodology and tools used in the laboratory and numerical experiments to interpretation and explanation of basic mechanisms. On typical circuit examples, it shows how the theoretical and empirical developments can be used in practice. Attention is drawn to applications of chaotic circuits as noise generators and the possible use of synchronized chaotic systems in information transmission and encryption. Chaos control is considered as a new, emerging area where electronic equipment and chaos theory could turn vital in biomedical and engineering issues.

Medical Ethics written by Kevin D. O'Rourke and has been published by Georgetown University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999 with Christian ethics categories.

In a single convenient resource, this book organizes and presents clearly the documents of the Catholic church pertaining to medical ethics. Introductory chapters provide the context for interpreting the Church's teachings and guide the reader in applying the teachings to particular ethical quandaries. This third edition has been updated to incorporate the statements issued since the preparation of the second edition. The authors have revised the introductory chapters to include ideas from the papal encyclical Splendor Veritatis and "Instruction of the Ecclesial Vocation of the Theologian," published by the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, concerning the various levels of the teachings of the Church. Other new statements included in this edition are relevant topics from the papal encyclical Evangelium Vitae (abortion, euthanasia, amniocentesis, suicide and withdrawing life support); the Vatican Congregation of Doctrine and Faith on uterine isolation; the U.S. bishops on the care of anencephalic infants, genetic testing, and cloning; and the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference on the treatment for rape in Catholic hospitals.

This book demonstrates how mathematical methods and techniques can be used in synergy and create a new way of looking at complex systems. It becomes clear nowadays that the standard (graph-based) network approach, in which observable events and transportation hubs are represented by nodes and relations between them are represented by edges, fails to describe the important properties of complex systems, capture the dependence between their scales, and anticipate their future developments. Therefore, authors in this book discuss the new generalized theories capable to describe a complex nexus of dependences in multi-level complex systems and to effectively engineer their important functions. The collection of works devoted to the memory of Professor Valentin Afraimovich introduces new concepts, methods, and applications in nonlinear dynamical systems covering physical problems and mathematical modelling relevant to molecular biology, genetics, neurosciences, artificial intelligence as well as classic problems in physics, machine learning, brain and urban dynamics. The book can be read by mathematicians, physicists, complex systems scientists, IT specialists, civil engineers, data scientists, urban planners, and even musicians (with some mathematical background).
