In a career spanning more than four decades, Berlin-born Sibylle Bergemann created an extraordinary oeuvre ranging from fashion and portrait photographs, literary reportages and artistic documentary series. Alternating between commissions and work of her own choosing, her focus was always on people. In the GDR, Bergemann worked both freelance as well as continuously for various art and culture magazines. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she co-founded the self-administered photographer's agency OSTKREUZ, and worked for leading German as well as international magazines such as GEO, Die Zeit, Stern or New York Times Magazine. The catalog accompanying the exhibition at Berlinische Galerie approaches the unique visual universe of one Germany's most famous photographers on several narrative levels. Including more than 200 photographs from the museum's own collection as well as from the photographer's estate, it shows selected images from her early work for the first time. SIBYLLE BERGEMANN (1941-2010) commenced her photographic training with Arno Fischer in 1966. From 1967 onwards, she worked as a freelance photographer for various magazines, such as legendary fashion magazine Sibylle. In the 1990s she traveled extensively around the globe to take photos, now in color rather than black-and-white, for internationally renowned magazines.

The late, great German photographer Sibylle Bergemann (1941-2010) always pursued her own artistic path. Even her earliest works, for the East German fashion magazine Sibylle, were like brilliant flares of color amid the uniform Socialist gray. Her later portraits, photojournalism, and travel photography--most of them in color--continued to concentrate on the realities of life, and were printed in leading magazines around the world. Bergemann's Polaroids occupied a very special, personal place in her oeuvre. In these pictures, the artist captured things that are basically impossible to catch--the beautiful moment that will not linger. This moment is as temporary as the medium in which the contours are shown. They are dreamlike, delicate images, created to fight the way that humans forget, and they avoid any sort of categorization in terms of time and space.Exhibition schedule: Leonhardi Museum Dresden, June 17-September 4, 2011 - C-O Berlin July 2-September 4, 2011

Born in France, the son of renowned artist Lyonel Feininger, Andreas Feininger was educated as an architect in Germany before he became a photographer. After working in Sweden, he came to the United States at the age of 33 and in 1943, became a staff photographer at LIFE magazine, where he spent the next twenty years. He is best known for iconographic images of his adopted land, with a focus on powerful city- scapes, which are imbued with the strict sense of form and proportion developed during his architectural studies. Indeed, the city was to be the focus of much of his work: "I see the city as a living organism, dynamic, sometimes violent." The scale and dynamism of Feininger's work captured the vast scope and raw majesty of an energetic and evolving land. His precise and unorthodox vision magnified the grandeur in the everyday and the mundane. An accomplished technician and acclaimed writer, Feininger is also widely respected for his photographic textbooks.

Naked Britain written by Amelia Allen and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11 with Black-and-white photography categories.

Fashion photographer Amelia Allen works in an industry obsessed with body image, one that focuses on the most flattering way of dressing oneself. It was, therefore, an unusual and refreshing step for her to move into a world where the body is completely liberated, devoid of styling and stripped of fabric and fashion. In the naturist world, people connect as equals, regardless of appearance, wealth, occupation or status. Over two years Amelia inhabited this world to produce her sociological documentary. By stripping off and immersing herself in 21st century naturism, Amelia discovered liberty, empowerment and the sense of fun that naturists embrace. Her images capture a raw beauty and infectious joy.
