El presente volumen contiene un conjunto de textos seleccionados de Andrés Bello publicados durante 1823-1843. Ellos representan la faceta de divulgación científica del caraqueño, actividad que comenzó en su juventud y que lo acompañó prácticamente hasta su ancianidad, paralelamente con sus más conocidas funciones como estadista, periodista, educador, jurista, poeta y filólogo. Los textos aquí seleccionados tratan temas que incluyen astronomía, geología, botánica, historia natural y tecnologías desde las tradicionales hasta las más avanzadas de su tiempo. Si bien concebidos por Bello como de primera importancia para la cultura y consolidación de las repúblicas emergentes de nuestro continente, los llamados opúsculos científicos han quedado algo a la sombra de los logros mayores del intelectual venezolano, tales como su Código Civil, su Gramática y sus exploraciones poéticas. El carácter multidisciplinario de la compleja obra de Andrés Bello quedó plasmado el 17 de septiembre de 1843 en su discurso de instalación como rector de la Universidad de Chile: “He dicho que todas las verdades se tocan […] Todas las facultades humanas forman un sistema en que no puede haber regularidad y armonía sin el concurso de cada una”. El presente volumen está dedicado a un corpus de dramas de temática histórica escritos en castellano a ambos lados del Atlántico a lo largo del segundo tercio del siglo XIX. Partimos de la idea de que ‘los romanticismos’, entendidos como un campo de tendencias polifacético, contradictorio, cambiante y transnacional, son, ante todo, un periodo de crisis compartida, de rupturas ideológicas y sociopolíticas, un periodo de recapitulación, remembranza y nuevo comienzo en que se reorganizan los órdenes político y estatal tanto en el viejo mundo europeo como en las naciones emergentes del continente americano, recién alcanzada su independencia de la corona española. Planteamos la cuestión de cómo estas obras tematizan la historia, la discuten y hacen un uso propio de la misma relacionándola con sus respectivos presentes y las estéticas que emplean. En particular, nos proponemos examinar en qué medida las obras seleccionadas se integran en una red de procesos de transferencias transnacionales y transatlánticas, de relaciones de intercambio mutuo, recepción dialógica, (re)apropiación, traducción y transculturación. Paatz, A. Fielbaum y F. Schmidt-Welle. SUSANNE GREILICH es profesora de filología española y francesa en la Universität Regensburg. Dirige desde 2018 junto con H.-J. Lüsebrink (Saarbrücken) un proyecto de investigación sobre las dimensiones de la traducción del enciclopedismo en la era de la Ilustración (DFG-SPP 2130). Sus campos de investigación se centran en la literatura, el cine y la cultura de habla hispana y francesa, desde el siglo XVIII hasta el XXI, en cuestiones de transferencias culturales, literarias y mediales, los medios de comunicación masivos, el enciclopedismo, las construcciones de identidad y alteridad, así como los discursos (pos)coloniales. DAGMAR SCHMELZER es profesora de filología española y francesa en la Universität Regensburg, miembro del Centro de Estudios Hispánicos de dicha universidad y de la redacción de la revista Estudios Culturales Hispánicos. Sus campos de investigación se centran en el cine y la cultura contemporáneos y la literatura de los siglos XIX al XXI de habla hispana y francesa. Sus trabajos manifiestan un marcado interés por cuestiones relacionadas con la intermedialidad, la historiografía y la memoria histórica, la teoría de los espacios, los relatos de viaje y la negociación y la formación performativa y discursiva de identidades individuales, generacionales y colectivas. *** Der Band widmet sich einem Korpus historischer Dramen in spanischer Sprache, die auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks im zweiten Drittel des 19. Jahrhunderts verfasst wurden. Ausgangspunkt ist die Vorstellung, dass die Epoche ‚der Romantiken’, als eines Feldes unterschiedlicher, widersprüchlicher, beweglicher und transnationaler Tendenzen, vor allem eine Zeit geteilter Krisen ist, eine Zeit ideologischer und soziopolitischer Umbrüche, Zeit der Rekapitulation, des Zurückblickens und des Neubeginns, in der sowohl in der Alten Welt Europas als auch in den entstehenden Nationalstaaten des amerikanischen Kontinents nach der Erlangung der Unabhängigkeit von der spanischen Krone die politische und staatliche Ordnung neu gestaltet wird. Es wird die Frage aufgeworfen, wie die Werke Geschichte thematisieren, diskutieren und funktionalisieren und dabei in Bezug zur jeweiligen Gegenwart setzen und welche Ästhetiken sie dafür nutzen. Insbesondere wird untersucht, in welcher Form sie sich in ein Netz transnationaler und transatlantischer Austausch- und Transferbeziehungen, in Prozesse der kreativen und dialogischen Rezeption, der (Re)Adaptation, Übersetzung und Transkulturation, der Verhandlung und produktiven Konkurrenz einschreiben.
