Dos son los motivos que nos han animado a realizar esta publicación de las Migajas Sentenciosas, recogidas en el Ms.289 de la Biblioteca Menéndez Pelayo de Santander: que el manuscrito nunca se ha publicado en su totalidad; y que la investigación realizada nos ha permitido poner de manifiesto las fuentes y los autores que se han utilizado para su composición. El contenido doctrinal del manuscrito recoge tres mentalidades que han estado presentes en el pensamiento español y que de una u otra forma aparecen reflejadas en estas Sentencias. El Erasmismo, que al tener como fundamento un marcado carácter religioso, trasciende éste para proyectarse en la cultura, la política y la filosofía. El Tacitismo, que en España tendrá la peculiaridad de servir de soporte a la Teoría Contra-reformista del Estado. El Neoestoicismo, que sustentado en el estoicismo tiene como trasfondo la adaptación de las doctrinas estoicas a la concepción cristiana. En las sentencias se recogen aspectos políticos, filosóficos y teológicos. En el texto que presentamos se han buscado las fuentes de donde han sido entresacadas las sentencias, así como párrafos de contenido sentencioso. De acuerdo con dichas fuentes se ha precisado el texto del manuscrito y en ocasiones se ha introducido algún cambio en su orden, que lo hace más inteligible. Two are the reasons that encouraged us to proceed to publishing the Migajas Sentenciosas, included in manuscript no.289 at the Menéndez Pelayo Library in Santander (Spain): first, the manuscript had never been completely published and, second, the research performed has allowed us to reveal the real authors and sources used for its creation. The doctrinal content of the manuscript gathers three different mentalities that have been present in the Spanish thinking, which are somehow reflected in these Sentencias. Erasmism, which trascends its religious character to be projected onto culture, politics and philosophy. Tacitism, which in Spain will particularly serve as a support for the Counter-Reforming Theory of the State. Neostoicism, which based on Stoicism, has the adaptation of Stoic doctrines to the Christian conception as its background. The Sentencias comprise political, philosophical and theological aspects. In the present text, we have searched for the sources where the Sentencias were selected from. Following such references, the preciseness of the text in the manuscript has been increased, in some cases, its order has been amended to facilitate its understanding.
