The substance underlying ordinary signs, words, and gestures in the liturgy is the theme of this collection of simple homilies offered to nurture Christians on their pilgrimage toward piety and spiritual life. Through these texts every reader will rediscover additional strength in the elementary religious practices memorized during childhood. For the homilist, the traditional symbols and texts of worship are viewed with a fresh scrutiny. A separate section of homilies for children is included.

Gestures communication between dumbs and other people using the expression of signs language an algorithm for recognizing hand gestures of (letters or numbers or words) to by using dumb (through signs) and convert the sings into voice corresponding to sings.Gestures are one of the best ways of communication between dumbs and other people using the expression of signs language. In this book, we suggest an algorithm for recognizing hand gestures of Arabic (letters or numbers or words) to by using dumb (through signs) and convert the sings into voice corresponding to sings (letters or numbers or words). The proposed algorithm use video for the gesture of the dumb then convert the video into frames ( images), preprocessing for the resulted image must be done by removing the noise, resize the images and increase the contrast, then calculate the distance to clustering the words by using (C4.5, k-mean, k- medoid and artificial neural network), calculate the distance ( or features) by using Euclidean distance and slope where, there are eighteen features (eight features from Euclidean distance, eight features from slop, Area, and perimeter). The results in the training stage were (C4.5 gave 99.8664%, k-mean gave 97.7930%, k-medoid gave 97.3620%and ANN gave 96.538% ). While in the testing stage we used three classifiers (Euclidian Distance, Modify of the Standardize Euclidian Distance and Correlation) and the results show that (Euclidian Distance gave 94.7368%, Modify of the Standardize Euclidian Distance gave 98.2456% and Correlation gave 96.4912%) We create our database (ten videos with 814 frames.

The Signs Of Language written by Edward S. Klima and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1979 with Education categories.

In a book with far-reaching implications, Edward S. Klima and Ursula Bellugi present a full exploration of a language in another mode--a language of the hands and of the eyes. They discuss the origin and development of American Sign Language, the internal structure of its basic units, the grammatical processes it employs, and its heightened use in poetry and wit. The authors draw on research, much of it by and with deaf people, to answer the crucial question of what is fundamental to language as language and what is determined by the mode (vocal or gestural) in which a language is produced.

As sign language linguistics has become an important and prodigious field of research in the last few decades, it comes as no surprise that the repertoire of methodological approaches to the study of the communication of the Deaf has also expanded considerably. While earlier work on sign languages was often focused on providing arguments for them being full-fledged linguistic systems, current debates do no longer center on whether visual-spatial grammars are worth being researched, but on how this type of research should be conducted. This book contains a selection of papers that could be thought of as a good representative sample of current trends in formal approaches to the study of sign language syntax. It illustrates how generative research on the communication of the Deaf may contribute to our understanding of the syntax of natural languages in general and indicates to what extent it is possible to integrate advances in the analysis of visual-spatial grammar with current spoken language research. Christly Gestures written by Brett Webb-Mitchell and has been published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003 with Religion categories.

The church is not only the central place of Christian worship but also a place of faith-filled education. Christly Gestures reframes the very meaning of religious education, exploring what the form and content of Christian learning would look like if local churches truly saw themselves as the body of Christ. Author Brett Webb-Mitchell begins with the writings of Paul, using them to clarify the biblical image of Christ's body as the community of believers. Taking this powerful analogy to heart, he suggests that Christian education must not only nurture the minds and spiritual lives of church members but also educate their bodies into the "Christly gestures" - performing acts of faith that imitate Jesus and embody the gospel in daily life. In the quest for a richer, more relevant understanding of Christian education, Webb-Mitchell provides meaningful answers to questions concerning the purpose, context, ways, and means of educating Christians today.
