An Introduction Chemistry Of The Silicones written by Eugene G. Rochow and has been published by Read Books Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-03-23 with Science categories.

The organic compounds of silicon, which have been the subject of many scholarly researches during the past 80 years, at last show promise of emerging from the laboratory and finding a place in industry. An understanding of the behaviour of organosilicon materials is necessary to their intelligent use and, inasmuch as the chemistry of these substances ordinarily is not treated in our textbooks, it is possible that a compact yet comprehensive survey of our present knowledge in this field would be of service to chemists, engineers, and industrial designers. This volume has just such a purpose. The first few chapters review the silanes and their derivatives in some detail, in order to provide an understanding of the fundamental chemistry of the nonsilicate compounds of silicon. The later chapters emphasize the silicone polymers which have achieved commercial importance and deal with the methods for their preparation, their chemical and physical properties, and their possible uses. The processes available for large-scale production are treated separately, and a review of methods of analysis is included.

APPLIED COATINGS An integrated collection of case studies providing a concise guide for professionals working with coatings materials in academia and industry In Applied Coatings: Chemistry, Formulation, and Performance, distinguished scientist Dr. Weih Q. Lee delivers an illuminating collection of case studies designed to connect various elements of applied coatings technology. Going beyond generic discussions, the author describes the fundamental chemistry, formulations, and properties of applied coating materials – including the structural and functional components of structure-property relationships – as well as the foundations of applied cure kinetics and the rheology of epoxy coatings. Each chapter is self-contained, comprehensive, and can be read individually, while the book remains technically and editorially integrated. Core themes include structure-performance relationships, formulation index driven experiment design, and consolidated thermal analysis. Readers will also find: A thorough introduction to epoxies and epoxy curing agents, including oxetanes, vinyl esters, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), isocyanate and silicone crosslinkers, cationic catalysts, acrylate and phenol accelerators, and specialty derivatives Attentive descriptions of epoxy curing chemistry, including epoxy-phenolic, -polyamide, -active ester, and acid- or base-catalyzed systems in a broader scope Comprehensive explorations of cure kinetics and rheology, including model-free kinetics (MFK), the nth-order model covering Kissinger plots and the Borchardt—Daniels (BD) approach, the autocatalytic model, executive quantification via curve fitting of DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) exotherms, the rheology of non-reactive fluids, and the viscoelasticity of reactive coatings Practical discussions of C1S thick-film surface coatings, C2S structural lamination, liquid and powder epoxies, and phenolic coatings, including fluorene monomers, heterocyclic resins, and polymerizable derivatives Complete treatments of coating characterization, microencapsulation, epoxy hybrids and non-epoxy platforms, adhesion of applied coatings, and adhesion promotion, including reactive and functional silicones Perfect for formulation and research and development scientists and engineers at any technical level, Applied Coatings will also benefit research professors and students studying coatings, adhesives, composites, electronic materials, and more.

Chemistry And Technology Of Silicones written by Walter Noll and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Chemistry and Technology of Silicones retains the nature of a monograph despite its expanded scope, giving the reader in condensed form not only a wide-ranging but also a thorough review of this rapidly growing field. In contrast to some other monographs on organosilicon compounds that have appeared in the interim, the silicones occupy in this edition the central position, and the technological part of the work is entirely devoted to them. This book comprises 12 chapters, and begins with a general discussion of the chemistry and molecular structure of the silicones. The following chapters then discuss preparation of silanes with nonfunctional organic substituents; monomeric organosilicon compounds RnSiX4-n; and organosilanes with organofunctional groups. Other chapters cover preparation of polyorganosiloxanes; the polymeric organosiloxanes; other organosilicon polymers; production of technical silicone products from polyorganosiloxanes; properties of technical products; applications of technical silicone products in various branches of industry; esters of silicic acid; and analytical methods. This book will be of interest to practitioners in the fields of molecular chemistry.

Polymer Green Flame Retardants covers key issues regarding the response of polymers during fire, the mechanisms of their flame retardation, the regulations imposed on their use, and the health hazards arising from their combustion. Presenting the latest research developments, the book focuses in particular on nanocomposites, believed to be the most promising approach for producing physically superior materials with low flammability and ecological impact. The fire properties of nanocomposites of various matrixes and fillers are discussed, the toxicological characteristics of these materials are analyzed, addressing also their environmental sustainability. Edited by distinguished scientists, including an array of international industry and academia experts, this book will appeal to chemical, mechanical, environmental, material and process engineers, upper-level undergraduate and graduate students in these disciplines, and generally to researchers developing commercially attractive and environmentally friendly fire-proof products. Provides recent findings on the manufacture of environmentally sustainable flame retardant polymeric materials Covers legislation and regulations concerning flame retarded polymeric material use Includes tables containing the fire properties of the most common polymeric materials
