Sin and the Church: Perspectives and Principles for Powerful Christian Living is a timely message for today. This book is born out of Crystal Scott's own personal Christian experience and journey, and is a reflection of God's grace, patience, and providence; she discloses that while forever a work-in-progress, she has received revelation and understanding through her relationship with God that affords her the opportunity to enlighten others as she has been enlightened. WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW CAN HURT...! As related to the issue of Sin and the Church, I consider this more than a mere cliché: what you don't know can indeed hurt you; and this hurt is more and more apparent in the Church, which is the body of Christ (His believers and followers). There is a rapid increase of spiritual decline in the Church that is quite alarming and its impact is far-reaching. All too often there seems to be very little difference between Church people and those who do not claim to be followers of Christ. I contend, without apology, that there is an expectation of the Church that God has, which is not being carried out as it should be. In the face of what seems gloom and doom for the Church, God raises a word of enlightenment and encouragement. God knows there are some who are innocently led astray by erroneous doctrine and confused, and He cares. He also cares about those who innocently or deceptively lead others astray and He offers grace, forgiveness, and restoration to the repentant heart. Included in this book are the following: • True Christian Doctrine • Lifestyles that are not indicative of Christianity and holiness • Essential keys for powerful Christian living • Statistical Data • Personal testimonies and interviews • And much more SIN AND THE CHURCH: PERSPECTIVES AND PRINCIPLES FOR POWERFUL CHRISTIAN LIVING...GOOD NEWS in confusing and troubled times!

With Willful Intent written by David L. Smith and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-11-07 with Religion categories.

'With Willful Intent: A Theology of Sin' is a full orbed examination of sin and the human Fall. Its intention is to provide the reader/student with both the materials and methodology to formulate his or her own biblically based theology of sin. The book is arranged in four sequential sections to guide the reader through the process of theological development. The first section, "A Historical Theology of Sin," furnishes a detailed outline of Christian thought on sin from the time of the early church to the present day. These chapters will help the reader to understand why so many differing views of sin and the Fall exist. The second section, "A Biblical Theology of Sin," is the keystone of theological formulation. It apprises the student of the biblical teaching on the human Fall and its subsequent ramifications. Because believers hold the Bible to be the fully inspired, all-sufficient Word of God, what it says about sin must be determinative in one's development of a theology of sin. The third section, "A Systematic Theology of Sin," seeks to synthesize the teaching of the Bible while drawing on the insights of history, science, and the social sciences. Topics covered include the nature of sin, its universality, its transmission, its relationship to Satan and the demonic, and its conquest through Jesus Christ. Any theology is worthless if it cannot be related to daily living. The conclusion, "A Practical Theology of Sin," demonstrates how the theology which has been formulated may be applied to the individual life of the believer and to the church's ministry.

Stumbling In Holiness written by Brian P. Flanagan and has been published by Liturgical Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-08-15 with Religion categories.

In Stumbling in Holiness, professor and theologian Brian P. Flanagan addresses the ways in which both holiness and sinfulness condition the life of the pilgrim church. The book is rooted in a liturgical-theological explanation of how the church prays through its continuing need for repentance and purification, as well as its belief in its present and future participation in the life of the Holy One. After reviewing some of the ways in which past theologians have tried to explain the coexistence of ecclesial holiness and sinfulness, Flanagan suggests that, even if we can have confidence that God will fully sanctify the church in the reign of God, our ecclesiology must always attend to both the sanctity we already experience in the church and the sinfulness that is part of our continuing journey toward that reign.

Church Misbehaving written by Evangelist Hazel L. White and has been published by Tate Pub & Enterprises Llc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-08 with Religion categories.

There is a serious problem evolving in the modern church. Churches are becoming unbelievably corrupted. The church leaders are involved in inappropriate sexual sins such as adultery, homosexuality, and fornication; sins of pride; sins of lack of compassion for the sick, the elderly, widows, and the poor; sins of greed for power and money; and sins related to misuse of words and the tongue. The big question is why these behaviors are tolerated in the church. Church Misbehaving reviews the declaration in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which emphasizes the responsibility of the church for disciplining those who are misbehaving. Church discipline is crucial for church growth and effectiveness, so what is going on with the modern church when it comes to disciplining its misbehaving leaders and members? Is the church failing in its responsibilities? Do church authorities know how to discipline? Or does it care? Drawing on her experience as a minister, Dr. Hazel White portrays the Church Misbehaving and what Christians, as good stewards, can do to resolve internal discipline issues. Discover key steps to cautiously and biblically choose leaders for the body of Christ and to deal with the missteps of those who go astray.

The T&T Clark Companion to the Doctrine of Sin provides a comprehensive treatment of the doctrine of sin. The Companion includes an examination of the biblical and rabbinic accounts of sin, and it provides accounts of sin and its effects offered by key theologians throughout Christian history. It also explores debates surrounding the implications of sin for various doctrines, including God, creation, anthropology, and salvation. The book is comprised of 30 major essays that provide an unparalleled examination of the key texts, figures, and debates relevant to the Christian tradition's discussion of the doctrine of sin. The Companion is unique in that every essay seeks to both appropriate and further stimulate the church's understanding of sin and its implications for the whole of the church's dogmatic tradition. The essays are divided into three sections: (1) Biblical Background; (2) Major Figures and Traditions; and (3) Dogmatic Concerns. The first set of essays explores the biblical and rabbinic accounts of sin to bring out the complexities of the biblical presentation and its implications. The second section discusses the role of the doctrine of sin in the theology of key theologians with a special attention to explaining how the doctrine contributes to an understanding of their overall theology. The final section explores key dogmatic questions and concerns related to the doctrine of sin (e.g. original sin, sin and the question of evil and providence, sin and the freedom of the will).

Eight recognized Christian thinkers show that while the forms taken by these diabolical forces may have changed under the conditions of modern life, the underlying realities remain the same. Thus politics can become demonic, power can promote death, and sin can be disguised as virtue. Far from being pessimistic, however, the authors affirm God's victory over these enslaving powers through the proclamation of the gospel and the sacraments of the church."--BOOK JACKET.
